Hello, I am new to this site, but not to the paranormal world. I'll go into more detail in the introduce section later, but this question is a more pressing matter for me at the moment. First, let me state why i pose this question.

I've had a few friends that have had a similar experience after catching a ghost on film. One friend in Japan had taken a picture of a spiritual gate in front of a shinto temple/shrine. The purpose of the gate is to keep out evil spirits. When he took the picture, nothing abnormal was there. Later he went to get his pictures developed. AS he was checking him over at the photo place before he paid for the developed photos, he came across the photo he shot of the gate. Standing in front of the gate was a Japanese demon or Oni. He thought it was pretty cool, thought nothing of it, and left the photo place happy and ready to go him. moments after he got into his car and began the trip home, he was involved in a major accident and ended up in the hospital. He's fine now, but made sure to have the photo and negative blessed by a priest before again attempting to take it home with him. After it was blessed nothing happened. Coincidence, possible, but he wasn't willing to take that chance.

Now we come to my situation, my life has had a series of ups and downs. Such as life, however, the more serious of downs i can date back from an exact time and when things started happening. NOw that i have noticed that they were in the photo, things have gotten progressively worse and is affecting others immediately around me.

Back in the late spring of 99', I took a friend of mine from the east coast to visit the Winchester Mystery Houes. Next to the Queen Mary, probably one of the most famous places in California when it comes to ghostly haunts. I took a few photos inside hoping I might catch something on film, careful what you wish for. After I got the pictures developed, I looked at them and hadn't noticed anything. Of course at that time, I really didn't know what to look for except for the obvious.

Now enter a few months ago, I had watched a special on ghosts on TV and they had shown some photos. Of course the ghosts they had shown in the photo most people would have overlooked since they weren't really obvious right away. So I went back to the pics I had taken, this time looking at every detail in each photo. I ended up with 2 photos, one which I'm not sure of, and the other which I am sure of and has multiple spirits in the picture. The more I looked at the picture, the more I would find hiding in the photo. The most obvious one you will see is in the left hand corner. It looks as if it is screaming.

Since I have now seen them, things have been falling (or been pushed) off of shelves and tables. Things have disappeared, and then just a series of what you could call bad luck.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Here is the photo in particular. It was taken from the second floor of the Winchester House, I initially took this photo because I thought the pattern on what would be a window looked interesting. As I mentioned earlier, the most obvious one is in the left hand corner, but if you look carefully you will find many more and also see where one "face" will be part of another.
Nobody was standing near or next to me when I took the photo.

Hi busaiku,

The Winchester House is an amazing place. I've had an opportunity to tour it and would eagerly go again if ever back in that area. I have no doubt that there are spirit energies and/or earthbounds there, the sensations felt in certain areas was quite incredible.

I've never experienced having things happen after noticing something in a photo taken. I know looking at a picture of a person or place can give you impressions or you can sense negative energy. Energies can and do attach themselves to things or places but not sure how they would be able to affect situations via a picture though? Perhaps someone else has experienced this happening? Have you tried doing what your friend did with his picture or considerd getting rid of the picture entirely?

I need to take a closer look at your picture but sorry at first glance I'm not able to locate the screaming image? I see an outline of something however I'm not sure that it's not part of the shapes/colors within the foliage and bricks or a reflection from some of the patterns and shapes on the building. I tried to look at the window itself and block out the background shapes and parts of the outline did come from the background, although not all. There seems to be a wave (for lack of better description) like what you see when heat rises on a hot day on part of the windows as well, not sure what that is?

What did the image look like in your friends picture, was it more solid like or faint? It's scary to think it may have played apart in your friends accident. Maybe it's that a negative energy followed him from that place?

What program was it that explained ghostly images in pictures, it sounds really interesting? Thanks for sharing this with us. Sorry I'm not able to be of much help, I'm sure some others will be able to provide some better advice for you. =)

Hello There Busaiku:

Since you were talking about photos and included one, I moved your post to this forum.

I've seen a lot about the Winchester House, and watched a program that had about it on Haunted Travels on the Travel Channel. It's a very interesting place for sure. I cropped your pic and I see what I think is a face in the left hand side. Some of what you're seeing is reflection from the other window being open, the trees making patterns, etc... I do think there is something there, it's just hard to tell. Here's what I see as a possible face, and a close up of that part of the pic.

When you were saying, the more you look at the pic, the more you see...that happens a lot when you have a pic like this. I'm careful about saying I see faces, so I'm just saying this is a "possible" face. Let me know if it's the same one that you see. Also, it is possible that this was in the pic, and you just weren't looking as closely maybe? I have read, in Sylvia Browne's book, Visits From The Afterlife, that spirits do sometimes superimpose their image in a pic. It doesn't mean the spirit is "residing" in the picture, just that they put their image there.

Hugs,

I have wanted to go to the Winchester house for a while now, it looks like a very interesting place to go. Haunted Travels on the Travel Channel is one of my favorites and they have covered the house several times.

I saw the "face" in the window as well but, have not seen anything else in the picture. Where did you see the other hidden things?

Busaiku, I think it may not be a case of a ghost or spirit "residing" in the photo, although not to say you didn't pick up something paranormal in the pic. I'm able to see several faces in the pic as well.

However, it is possible that you picked up what some people would call a "hitch hiker." If you are familiar with some of the guidelines used when doing paranormal investigations, they often include blessings and prayers in which they ask the spirits to stay where they are rather than following the investigator home. This is why!

On at least two occasions, neither of which I was doing a paranormal investigation, I've had ghost or spirits follow me home. Once, I had been doing some genealogy research at a nearby American Indian cemetery. After arriving home, I immediately started having strange things happen, including the blinds in my room going up and down by themselves.

The other time was just a few months ago. We had visited a Civil War battle site, and I noticed my little girl playing with an imaginary dog, and holding her hands up saying, "Look at PaPas! All the PaPas!" (Her word for any older men). Later that night, we had things inexplicably falling from shelves.

What I have found that works for me is to sit down quietly in the house and tell them, verbally, that I cannot help them. They either need to cross over, or go someplace else, they are not allowed to live with me.

You'll feel like a nut the first time you try, and it may or may not work for you. I've done this on several occasions and it has worked for me each time. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I highlighted a few of the others in the photo, there are more.

I could try the blessing thing, I don't know if just getting rid of the photo would solve the problems or make things worse. When you hold the picture, you get a feeling of despair. I just want to help them find some sort of peace.

I am familiar with hitchhikers having dealt with them in the past and present. As to things getting worse after noticing thm in the pic, it's kind of like having a stranger in your house. At first, the stranger tries to hide himself so as not to be noticed, he'll do what he wants but not too much to draw attention since you don't know he's there. Once it has been realized that the stranger is in the home, his actions can become more blatant because he no longer has to hide because you don't know how to get rid of him.

In my friends pic, he told me it is very obvious. You can actually see full detail. An oni is basically a demon and in western lore would kind of resemble an ogre except that it has two very long teeth protruding upwards from it's lower jaw, almost looking like horns.

I wish I could remember the program i saw about the pictures, all i remember is that it was on the sci-fi channel

The Hitch hiker theroy is interesting and may well be what has happened in your case or your friends or even both? Picking up impressions and feelings from objects or even pictures of places is not uncommon to anyone sensitive and even at times with those that aren't. Did you have the same feelings of despair when you were in the area that the picture was taken in? Along with doing a blessing I like Carrie's idea of verbally saying to the energy that you are sensing that they are not welcome or telling them how they can move on. If your unsure if getting rid of the pic will help or think it may make things worse do a test. Remove the pic from your possession for awhile. I wouldn't give to someone else though. Is there a neutral place you can store it for a few weeks/months?

I agree, negative energies and earthbounds do seem to get stronger or more notable once they realize you now know they are there.

Some of the cropped pics were the areas I was looking as well. It's always more difficult when you look at pics with brick, stone and foliage in them. I noticed a skeletal like outline (as previously noted) on the left side but some of the other images I had seen do seem to be apart of the background shapes.

An Oni sounds very creepy. Negative energies no matter what shape or form they take are just something you don't want to invite in your life. Taking precautions is important, even when just snapping casual pics in a reported haunted locale. Carrie your experiences would have been unsettling, glad to hear the steps you took got rid of the hitch hikers.

*Update*
So the photo has vanished. Don't know where it is. It's been on my desk sitting on my printer, but now it's nowhere to be found. Since it's disappearance, Many of the things that have "mysteriously" vanished are now reappearing.

Any chance someone moved it without you knowing or it has fallen in behind the desk? If not perhaps a protective spirit decided to move it knowing it bothered you? Maybe it's the same spirit who has returned the items as a way of saying you don't need to worry? What sort of things are reappearing that were missing? I've had things mysteriously vanish to reappear later on as well. I feel spirit will do that sometimes just to let you know they are around. =)

in my opinion there is nothing in the picture i feel that you are matrixing. matrixing basically goes like this, when you look at big fluffy clouds have you ever made out a shape such as a rabbit or a bird etc...? sure ya have but is there rabbit in the sky? no its just clouds that is an example of matrixing in PN photos the most common example i have seen is people making out shapes in trees and reflections.

Hi, there! First of all, I would like to say that I am probably one of the biggest skeptics here. At least 95% of the time, I see absolutely nothing paranormal in photos that everyone else sees tons of stuff in. However, in this photo I plainly see a skeletal face. I saw it without blowing up the photo, inverting the colors, or changing it in ANY way, except I did crop out some of the excess stuff so it wouldn't drag out the page. IMHO, this is one of the best "face" pics I have ever seen on this site or anywhere else! This may just be part of the foliage (as I think the other faces are), but either way it's pretty creepy!

To be honest, I don't see anything that couldn't be explained. A lot of times we want to see something so bad that our eyes play tricks on us. I have had that happen a lot. The hitch hiker theory could be true, but may not have come from the Winchester Home. You talked as though you have had "bad luck" or just a bad time in life here recently. IF you did pick up a hitch hiker spirit, it mainly came from your dispair, inviting in the negative energy. I have had this personal experience in my life. No Joke! I had to be blessed by a cirlce in my religion. PLus, I did a ritual with a good friend and my sister to be cleansed of this negative "hitch hiker". Needless to say I had a bunch of bad or "unlucky" happenings at this time, and some how it fed off fof that. Like a dark shadow just hung around. It was hard to get ride of. After that experience I have had pretty good luck so far ::cross my fingers::! It is a terrible experience, you always feel drained and full of disspair. Before I found out about the "hitch hiker" I even was seen by a doctor to see if I fit the signs of anxiety/depression. The Doc said he couldn't find anything mentally wrong, and that maybe I needed to let go of some stress, and take a relaxing vacation from everyday life. Needless to say I have a very young son who needs me more in the real world. So I went to see my Priest. He told me about the "hitch hiker". Sorry I am not trying to write a book, but this is just what I know based on my own experiences and might not be your case. This is just to let you in on what is out there. Main thing is to never invite a spirit anywhere, your body, mind, or sould, even your home is a No No! Hope this helps a lil'.
