I had a very odd dream the other night and wanted to get some thoughts on it.

In the dream, I was sitting on the floor in a darkly decorated room doing a puzzle. This room is one I have never been in before. The doorbell rang and my old boss/friend came in with a woman I didn't know talking about an article I wrote about my old company and that they wanted to publish it and put my picture with it. Suddenly, I was in my kitchen (the one I have now) looking out the window. My husband was talking to our neighbors but, they are actually old friends. I do not get along with the wife at all and remember feeling very annoyed that this woman was living next door. I opened the inside window because I saw water coming in and I thought that I should call maintenance in to fix it. I then realized that the top part of the window was open letting the water in.

I then jumped to my bedroom upstairs. I was hearing water hit my windows and I was getting wet because we always leave those windows open a bit. I looked out and there was a kid whom I don't know spraying into my windows with a hose. My mother started yelling for me to get that kid away from our windows. My mother lives almost 400 miles away in real life. I turned to yell for my husband and when I turned back, the kid was sitting on my bed smiling at me. I went into the bathroom attached to my bedroom and shut the door because the kid wouldn't leave. I woke up just after the kid roughly pushed the bathroom door open and I scremed for him to get out. The kid was about 17 or so and had long blond curly hair. He had a fair complexion with rosy cheeks and did nothing but laugh during the whole dream.

For some reason, I always remember my most detailed dreams but, can usually connect them with something going on in my life. This one has me baffled.

What was with all the water and why did my good friend and a woman who I had a horrible falling out with show up in the same dream?

Any thoughts?

Wow! What a dream. I have a few thoughts here, please feel free to tell me if I'm wrong. I think the puzzle is the key symbol, possibly representing your life- after all life is rather a puzzle, with odd pieces connecting here and there leading to the bigger picture. I don't have any thoughts on the woman that you didn't recognize, who came in with your boss/friend-except that in dreams you sometimes see seperate parts of a person as two different people. But the article that they wanted to publish with your picture, in context with the rest of your dream I think that perhaps your comparing achievements of the past with what is happening now. From what I've read, water is a very common symbol assosiated with emotions, rough waves symbolizing emotional turbulence. Over all, with all the water, the boy,the woman you don't like, your mother, your dream seems to have a great deal of anxiety. Has there been some change in your life? Maybe something that you might see as small but has a larger impact than you thought. Sometimes I'll see something on tv or a movie or a book that causes me to think about my life and I end up with weird dreams.

edited to add: The boy breaking into the bathroom- It could be an important part of you dream or it could be a meaningles thing brought on by the anxiety of the dream and random images. You went somewhere you thought would be safe/private and it turned out that it wasn't. Have you been questioning a decision you made or are making? Or have you felt that their has been an invasion of privacy or trust in your life- this might tie in with the woman you don't like being in your dream.

With dream interpretation I fully belive that the dreamer is the one that ultimately has to decide on the interpretation, so I'm interested to know if you have any further thoughts on your dream.

Very interesting thoughts Renee...

The odd thing about the puzzle is that I never saw the picture on the puzzle. I can describe the room in great detail but, not the puzzle I was doing.

I realized today when I went to the doctor just how stressed I actually am. There is no change in my life recently but, the next year will be full of changes.

A lot of my dreams have water in them. Mostly water slides and a lot of them I am walking through very calm water.

As far as the invasion of privacy, there has been none that I know of.

Thanks for the reply! Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I agree wholeheartedly with Renee. The best interpreter for a dream is the dreamer. It may take you a while but it is very worth it.
I had a reoccuring dream that took me years to figure out. I just wouldn't see it. I figured it out and the dream mostly stopped. The issue it was about still existed but the message helped me address it.

I've found that water in dreams is symbolic of change. It's always been that way for me.

To me it sounds like you pretty much have a good take on it already.
I see your dream as symbolizing a change that has started already but will come into existance in the near future. It sounds like your are resisting it. For good reason. Your fears and anxieties. I'm not saying resist the change. I'm just acknowledging how much fear and anxiety play in our life. Your dream is telling you that you fear the return of past issues. Change in your past brought you suffering and fear. You're afraid that this change will make it return.
You're putting together the puzzle of your continuing life but you can't see or won't see it. You don't want to return to relationships with people that you do not want to get along with you.
I have a feeling you do know who that woman is. You are not recognizing her on purpose.

I have a feeling about the kid. That you are threatened by him is obvious. That you had to retreat to your bedroom. That he was there already without your consent. That you had to retreat to the bathroom. That he forced his way to open the bathroom . Laughing the whole time. That you woke up after screaming at him to get out. Each piece means something. A threat to your privacy. Invading further and further into your private world. Add in the hose spraying. I keep getting the feeling that the hose spraying was not at your house/home but in your face. I feel like it is a mean/degrading/I don't care about your health/boundries spray in the face. Every time I review that part I can feel it in the left side of my face.
You know what this is about. Just writing this my heart rate increased dramatically and I can taste fear. If you can't remember what this is about you may be repressing it. I get the feeling that your mothers voice was a tape playing of a warning given to you by your mother. How our parents say don't do that or don't do this or this will happen. When we ignore it and something bad happens that 'tape' attachs itself to that memory of the bad event.

It sounds like your coming changes are opening up past fears and issues. Offering you a chance to deal with them. To come to terms with some and to learn how to deal with others in life better.

I hope this helps. This is just what I picked up from reading your dream with mix of dream knowledge I picked up over the years of studying dreams.
I believe dreams give us great insight into the past, present and future.

Thank you nakis. Anything is possible. The big change is going to be that my husband will be going to Korea for a year. He will be leaving a year to the day that he got back from the desert. We have 2 small children and it is difficult on them and me to have him gone for so long. While he is gone, I will have to buy a house and move to NY where his next duty station will be. I cannot work right now as I am a massage therapist and have carpal tunnel.

All that said, I guess I am a bit stressed. As far as the things from the past, I have no clue. The woman who visited me is a good friend and the woman who I don't like lives a great distance from me. I am sure it will come to me though.

Thanks for your thoughts on it.

Wacava, it really does sound like you've got a handle on the dream. So much stress as your going through can certainly lead to dreams like this. There's a great deal of anxiety and vulnerability in the dream. I wouldn't focus too much on details that just aren't making sense to you, sometimes the details aren't as important as the emotions that they invoke. This is why a good dream analysis presents questions rather than answers, they are questions for you to ask yourself.

I find it interesting that Nakis and I said quite a few similar things. I know that Nakis is very intuitive. I also use my intuition based on analyzing my own dreams over the years, though rarely other peoples because dreams are so very private. Good luck with what's going on with you. =) I hope that looking closer at your dream helps you sort out some the stress you've been feeling. I think that's why we have them, it's a wake up call that says "hey, you need to look into this before it gets too big".
