I have had a scarey dream about not being able to move.Anyway it was when i lived with my grandmothers house in ok.It would be in the area of her kitchen door i would be standing to the right side of the door and tried to move and could not. Then i would wake up.I would also dream about this huge bible my grandmother had which my mom has now.Anyway i would only dream of this in my grandmothers house.Once when i was about 7 or 8.Then 13 years of age. Then about 16 years of age.I have felt something in my grandmothers house one was in the attic which did not seem scary but not sure what it was.it never left that area thou. The other one was in the bedroom in the front of the house you could look at the big window and see the masonic boys home i have written a post on.When my grandmother used to sleep in that room with her bible at the foot of her bed.The big bible i dreamt about was this bible.Anyway in the dream the bible was bigger then me.I remember in 1984 last time i lived there ihad both dreams in same night. The first was being stuck in the door way of the kitchen then, the one with the huge bible then my grandmother called me to get up.I don't know if i dreamt this or not but i remember hearing her call me then all my blankets lifted up off me then on th the floor. Then i got up and they were back on me this kind of freaked me out but i had not said any thing about it when i was a kid.It was a post about not being able to move that made me remember.I knid of thing that the one that was in the front room was a older women and seemed real strict she never hurt me but could feel a real strong presence.I thought that this may of been the matron who may have murder those boys then committed suicide.

Hi Treneay,

In my experience dreams where you can't move or where there is something overwhelming, something you can't influence as you want to are signs of anxiety dreams. Also repetative dreams- dreams that you've had more than once, and dreams that have repetative elements- such as something happening over and over again are also common signs of anxiety dreams.

I haven't read the story about Masonic Boys home yet, but I will as soon as I have the time. Do you think that a spirit from there is influencing your dreams or do you think that the story and your childhood memories of it are just getting mixed up in your dreams?

I'm not saying this is the answer, but have you ever heard of waking dreams? They are a type of dream in which you feel paralyzed, but all other senses seem to be in tact. From what I know, they are usually very frightening, often involving a foreboding figure that stalks or attempts to attack you (I know people who have experienced them). Perhaps someone else is more educated on the subject and can give you more information on the subject, if you are interested.

This phenomenon is also called sleep paralysis and is fairly common. This was my first thought upon reading the post. Wicked Replicant is correct; this type of dream often involves hallucination.

My husband experienced the phenomenon several times while he was in college, and I myself, had an episode several months ago. It isn't a pleasant experience, and not one I would want to repeat!

It is theorized that sleep paralysis is a naturally occuring phenomenon and not paranormal in nature. Frankly, I'm not so sure I buy that explanation 100%. Years after my husband's experience, an acquaintance of mine told a story very similar to his, -- oddly enough, they lived in the same apartment complex.

Sleep paralysis typically seems to happen to people in their 20's. I've known several people who have reported the phenomenon to varying degrees. For some, it is just a feeling of being temporarily paralyzed. For others, it comes complete with grisly hallucinations. Mine was of the latter sort, and like I said, it isn't an experience I would want to repeat.
