Good news! I got an email from Cat, in response to my March 11th email inquiry.

I know she'll have much more to tell you all when she's back online, but in brief...

She said the surgery went well, but her recovery has been slow. She was in the hospital for 2 weeks (much longer than was expected); her back was in worse shape than they thought. She's still in a ton of pain and must rest a lot. (When she replied to my email, it was the first day that she's been able to sit up for a little bit.) All in all, she said she's hanging in there and getting a little better each day.

She also wanted me to pass her love along, tell everyone hello and that she misses you all!

That's great. That the surgery went so well. I can certainly sympathize with having to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks. Sigh.

Its good to hear that Cat's surgery went well and that she is out of the hospital and recovering now. I shall keep her in my prayers that she has a complete recovery.I will be also sending her lots of white light.

Let me start by sending you all a big hug and many kisses ((hugs)). Thank-you so much for the well wishes you have sent to me on both this thread and the previous one regarding my surgery, it has meant more to me than words can say. Your thoughts, prayers and light continues to give me strength.

I made it through the surgery although as Kell noted for me, it was more involved than originaly expected. The surgeons were quite surprised when they opened me up as they found my MRI's etc did not give the true picture to what was going on with the ol back. It turned out my previous fusion completly failed and the bones were, as they put it, just floating there. The Doc was amazed that I was able to walk at all given the state things were in and stated I was most fortunate that I did not end up with permanent damage leading to my losing the use of my legs. So I guess you can say someone was watching out for me and I had a little help from above. =) Surgery went well but I won't know for a few weeks yet if the fusions (they did 2) took fully. They actually wanted to schedule me for a second surgery 6 weeks from this last one to go in from the other side to do a 360 repair but the head surgeon has opted not to put me through that unless absolutely necessary. I sure hope we won't have to do that as I'm not sure I can go through this again as it was pretty intense and I am yet to be pain free. Funny I knew all along something was not right with what was being said and their findings etc. that inner voice knew. I hope in telling this it will be a little note for all to listen to your body and your inner voice and get second or third opinions if you are not happy with the answers you are first given. As they say things happen for a reason well the one week delay turned out to be a good thing. One of the surgeons noted something in my films which made them re-think the surgery approach and they opted the day before surgery to go in via posterior vs anterior which turned out to be a good decision, for if they had proceeded as intended things would not have turned out as well. Lots to explain on that but I'll leave it as that for now.

I'm taking things one day at a time, recovery is slow but coming along. I get a little stronger every day. I have missed being here very much as you all are such wonderful people and it is a joy to spend time here. I will try and pop in a little more as time goes by but it will be a bit yet before I'm back to norm. Sorry I likely won't have a chance to reply to posts just yet as my energy is still low, but I'll stop in to have a read just to get caught up. I did want to reply here to say Hi to all and let you know how things are. I look forward to getting back to norm really soon and sharing and commenting on the board as usual. =)

Wow Cat...you were lucky that you were able to walk in that condition! This time I hope and pray you have a peaceful different feeling after you recover completely (Meaning that your surgery was successful). Please let us know your results when it comes in. I've missed you guys and gals so I'm excited that I am finaly able to pop in a little more often. Getting stronger each day but also still getting plenty of rest. Wish the pain was easing off quicker but one must be patient. lol

Cat, I am so glad that your strength is coming back and that you are doing so well! I really intended to post here sooner, but I have been preoccupied with getting things together for taxes, etc, and for some reason, getting tired easier. I think it is just the seasonal changes, etc... nothing serious. =) I have been thinking of you a lot, and I am just thrilled tht you came through all of this so well, but I am going to focus the white light on getting rid of some of your pain now, as well as the healing in general. I wish you the very best!!!
