About 10 yrs ago I saw this old ghost movie on tv and I never knew the title, and I only remember a little bit of the plot, but it was really good. So if anybody recognized this movie and know's the title......

I can't remember if it was in black and white or color but I'm almost positive it was pre-70's and probably pre-60's. I'm thinking it was set in either New England or the UK. It was about a young married couple that bought an estate. A young girl (16? or about) lived on the grounds of the estate, I think with the estate caretaker-an old man. The young couple got really close to the girl and it became apparent that the female ghost haunting the main house was centered around the young girl. I think the girl was the daughter or relative of the previous owners. Because of this haunting, some people- I can't remember who- thought the girl was mentaly unbalanced. At the end, it turns out that there we're two female ghosts haunting the place, the one who was presumed to be the girls mother-the previous owner of the house- was in fact trying to harm the girl. The other ghost was found to be the girls real mother and was trying to protect her- I think she was Spanish and her name was Isabella.

I really liked this movie, it was a terrific ghost story. So maybe one of you guys will recognize it. I've alway kept an eye out for it and searched the internet but without the title it's nearly impossible.

I tried to do some research on this, but it was tough! I came up with a couple titles. These are pure guesses!

The Uninvited

The Innocents

SWEEEEEET! Honestly, I just used some logic. I went to some horror movie websites where you can browse by the year the movie was released. I started in 1930, and worked up through 1979. I chose those years based on your age, and therefor what you may have seen on TV during childhood. I read the brief descriptions, and tried to match them with what you had described. And viola!! I got lucky!! [Big Grin]

I think I should be on CSI!! [Laughing]

AHHHHHHHH The Uninvited!!! That is my favorite ghost movie of all times. I was 15 yrs old when I first saw it. I was babysitting for my nephews and my mom told me it was on and to watch it because she knew I loved scary movies. Well it scared the [Pooper] out of me! To this day I still think it is the best ghost movie out there. They should make more movies like this one instead of all the blood and guts they have out there now! I am so happy you found it Renee =) I wish I had seen this post when you first posted it I could have told you then. I hope you have a copy of the movie now. I do! [Wink]

I remember that movie. I don't remember the name but didn't it have Cary Grant in it? It was an old movie and I remember the girl standing by the cliff. I remember this being a great movie for being so long ago. The mother was trying to save the daughter.
