I was reading PC's post on 'scarey movies' and was wondering what is the scariest movie OR the scariest scene you have ever seen? I have to rate the 'Exorsist' very high on my list and even today I wouldn't watch it! Also, although I haven't seen it yet, the 'Bell Witch' just gives me the creeps!!! lol

For me, the scariest scene was from Jaws…The head showed up at the hole of the bottom of the boat when the scuba diver was checking out the boat.

My scariest movie when I was a kid was “The Blob” Steve McQueen was the main character.

As for today My all time scariest is “Grizzly” 1976 movie - I used to work in the theatre as a matron and at that time this movie was rated as for family…at the end of the first day my uniform was ripped up the sides from girls screaming and grabbing me. Half way through, I had to tell the head manager to go and find out what is going on. Finally, on my break as I was eating my dinner, I saw part of the movie, I spat out my dinner and left. That was the most horrible scariest movie and I had nightmares while vacationing in my trailer in the dense woods that summer!

Hard for me to decide. I have a 3 way tie.

Exorcist
Jaws
Poltergeist

Exorcist was more shocking than scary for me. Jaws and Poltergeist nearly made me jump out of my skin! (And yes, Doody Pants!! [No] )

[No] Doody pants... That's too funny. When I was young, the old black and white version of The Haunting scared me and so did House On Haunted Hill, with Vincent Price. To me, the remakes of both of these films, pale in comparison, even with all of their special effects. The Shining, with Jack Nicholson, gave the heebie jeebies. "Here's Johnny!" [Shock] I think the last movie, to sort of scare me, was Gothika. I don't know why, but it gave me the creeps a little. It was pretty good. I haven't seen one lately that really got to me though.

The list of movies that have scared me is way to long. But, I do remember one that I watched as a child. My grandparents were babysitting me and weren't too careful about the effects that a horror movie would have on such a young kid. Anyways, they were watching The China Doll, early version of Chucky. [Gasp] To this day doll's still creep me out, and you better believe that I never watched Chucky.

Another movie that got me pretty good was Pet Cemetery. I saw that one at a sleep over at a friends house and we scared ourselves so bad that we had to turn the movie off and watch it in the morning!

Pate, the original The Haunting is the best! I love that movie and the first time I saw it I definately needed teddy bear protection. [Laughing]

Had to add this one too, a cable movie When a Stranger Calls Back. This one freaked me out big time.

This may sound weird, but when I was 5 or 6 I saw a movie called Space Camp, where kids go to space camp and them and their teacher get shot into space. Very ridiculous when I think about it now but back then I had nightmares of being trapped in Space, just floating with nobody to help you and you are just waiting for death.

Anyway, The Shining (Kubrick) is one of the coolest scary movies ever. The one the creeps the hell out of me would be IT. That clown is...man...It's scary as hell.

Ohhh, how could I have forgotten "It"? That movie scared me. I was scared of clowns long before that anyway and I don't know why. I do not like clowns, and after that movie, I reallly didn't like them. There's a name for that, ummm, Coulrophobia. My sis is scared of them too, and we can't figure out why lol. I never knew she was until it came up in a conversation one day. I had a great childhood, so I have no idea why we're both scared of them. lol Who knows... Anyway, here's a pic of your buddy. [Laughing] 'teddy bear protection?'
I remember seeing 'An Amaerican Werewolf in Paris' and the one scene in the subway where all of a sudden the werewolve's face pops out at you....that really made me jump! Both "...in London and Paris" werewolf movies were great though...I would rate them at 3 teddy bears!!!
( [Laughing] thanks Renee! )

"IT" was on scifi the other day...still gives me the heebie jeebies!

A Nightmare on Elm Street really freaked me out. My brother had rented it and didn't want me to see if because he felt I was too young. Well of course as soon as he left the house I popped the tape in. A friend and I sat there scared silly watching this movie. Of course he found out...and proceded to buy the Freddy glove (a halloween novelty) and torture me with it [Laughing]

Ya know, another movie that I still can;t watch to this day is Clockwork Orange. I know it's not a "horror" movie...but the little bit that I saw freaked me out! ICK! That one definitely gets a 3 teddybear rating from me!

No doubt!!! And what makes it even scarier is the fact that its based on a true story, which I didn't know until not long ago. But it happened to a boy instead of a girl, like in the movie. I saw the actual priest(being interviewed on t.v.) who performed the exorcism! (ooooh, I'm getting goose bumps as I'm typing!....10 teddy bears! lol) Oh, & I used to live in Northern Virginia & worked in D.C. & I got to see the "stairs" from the movie...in Georgetown. VERY SCARY!!!

The Exorcist is definitely a scary movie... I think the scariest movies are the ones that are based on true stories. I'd have to say the scariest movie I've ever seen is the new Amityville! For some reason that movie freaked me out bad. [Shock] It's the first movie I've actually wanted to end cause I couldn't take it anymore. But then again I didn't want it to end cause Ryan Reynolds... mmmmm mmm MMMM [Laughing] haha

Other movies I thought were pretty freaky:

Texas Chainsaw (new and old)
The Signs (scared me for a long time!)
Dawn of the Dead (new one)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (first one)

I have to admit I am a youngin on here at 25, yes The Exorcist was freaky, but when I member I was very little when the movie Poltorgeist first came out. When my parents rented the movie, I member watching it with my baby blanket, (had it till I was 18), covered my head when the scary parts came, but the truely freaky part was when that young boy's braces had him in a hold. I remembered that when the dentisit told me I should go to an Orthodontist to get, yep you guessed it braces. I prayed it was only a movie and my braces wouldn't try to kill me, lol. Over that fear now, I had them off after a year, and my teeth are pretty, lol. I think the most recent scary movie that made me hide my eyes was the brand New "Dawn of the Dead"! great Post!
