ok here is my story and I know alot of folks that say that it was sleep paralasis ( did I spell that correct) anyway I sleep with the radio all the time and around 3 AM I was woken up by something ..I tried to get up and see what it was but my body was paralized ...i new what was going on ..I even heard the song on the radio that was playing and as I tried to turn to see what was lying next to me i couldn't. I heard a womans wispers ..it sounded like giberish and I was so scared and started to pray...the next thing I new was it felt like it had slithered off the bed and I sat up in my bed and it was very cold in my room . so what do you all think.

Slithered?!? I think that's freaky!! - It is also a strong case for the paranormal.

Hi Erin,

It does sound like sleep paralysis and perhaps even partly like a lucid dream. Seeing and/or hearing things is not uncommon with sleep paralysis. When you lucid dream you know your dreaming yet you can sometimes also be aware of your surroundings at the same time. Lucid dreams can be bizaare, enjoyable and/or scary. Maybe a lucid dream turned into sleep paralysis or the other way around? Either way they can be frightening experiences, especially sleep paralysis. I agree with PC the slithering part must have been freaky. [Eek!]

Hello Erin, gee that sounds very freaky. I haven't experienced anything like that before, my sister however one time, felt someone/thing sit on the edge of her bed, she was so scared she didn't move or breath. Finally she just said leave me alone, and it left just as mysteriously as it came.

Hi Erin,

Yup, that experience definately would have freaked me out. I too have had several experiences like that...I'm aware of what's going on but I can't move. Sometimes the stuff that's going on is reeeeeeeaaallly weird! I just chalked it up to my epilepsy! Anyway...one experience involved seeing my father and my grandmother standing next to my bed. Which really spooked me because my dad had just died and my grandma had been gone about three years at the time. I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, it felt like I had electric shocks jolting through me from my head down to my toes! I conciously had to make an effort to talk myself into relaxing and just "going with the flow" so to say. Eventually the shock feeling stopped and my relatives disappeared. For me, it was probably just the epilepsy...for you, I'm clueless!

Same thing happened to me, only I had my tv on. I could hear the show, I knew what was going on in the show. Then I heard some voice speak giberish right in my ear, I could even feel the breath of the voice. To go a step further, I felt an icy hand grab my wrist right after I heard the voice. Very freaky, I jumped out of bed as soon as I could move. The voice was a womans voice and the hand was small like a womans or childs hand. This has happened to me many times. Sometimes it is extreme, but most of the time it is just a voice whispering in my ear. Sometimes at voice level which really makes me jump. Just closing your eyes for a second then hearing a loud voice in your ear, whoo!!

Bottom line it is sleep paralysis.

"Sleep paralysis, as it turns out, is a natural state of the body. When we’re in deeper states of sleep, our brain stems engage in processes that block out certain neurotransmitters in order to stop us from physically acting out our dreams. Sometimes people wake up before their brains have completely de-activated the induced paralysis, and experience hallucinations which are thought to be either vestigial dream fragments or attempts by the brain to reconcile the waking state with the otherwise unexplainable muscular paralysis."
