I had a really wierd dream last night and I'd like some opinions here...I dreamed about my parents both of whom are dead. In this dream my Dad was alive and I was sitting with him when my cell phone rang. On the other end was my Mom telling me that she and my Grandma Alice (her mom) were really worried about me. But she said that she had left a phone number of someone who could help me. (I could really hear her voice...and it's still in my head this morning.) At that point in the dream I began to feel like there was something physically wrong with me, like a numbness on one side of my face when the dentist numbs you up too much. I started looking frantically for the number, found it, then lost it again...all I knew was that it was important to myself and my dad, who never said anything the entire dream. When I lost connection with my mom I felt so incredibly sad yet at the same time I was overjoyed because it proved to me that we continue even after the body dies. It was then that I woke up, feeling a bit shook up.
Ok, after such a long story...do you think it's possible that mom actually talked to me? I am under a lot of stress right now (grad school, job hunting, family of three boys, marriage issues, yada, yada, yada.....)Do you think it was just my mind trying to soothe itself with the thought of my mom or do you think she was trying to relay info to me? You know....she wasn't even on my mind last night when I went to sleep....

It does sound like your family on the other side was trying to contact you through this dream. Just from personal experience, I have found that dreams like this do have some significance to what is going on in your life at the moment. I apologize if I sound like an armchair shrink, but several things in your post really came out at me.

The phone number could have just been symbolic -- perhaps your family feels you are "losing touch" with something important? Thus, in your dream, you lost this important number for someone/something that could help you. That would go hand in hand with some of the stress issues in your life right now.

Just speaking from my own experience, during periods when I'm really stressed out, I always feel "numb", like "Heck, just pile some more on me. It isn't going to make any difference..." In essence, that numbness you felt may not have been a warning about a physical problem, but a warning of you've had too much going on in your life and you've become numb from the pressure and stress of it all.

I've had similar dreams about my parents and people who have passed on. Usually, there is a message in all of it, although sometimes it is a little jumbled and doesn't always make sense at first. I know several of us have made this suggestion to people regarding dreams; but, keep a journal of your dreams! This really does help and may provide you with some pieces to the puzzles that don't make sense.

From what you said, I believe this was your family's way of letting you know they are aware of what is going on in your life and are concerned and want to make sure you don't "loose touch" with what is really important. Pay attention to these dreams, I truly believe this is the way our loved ones communicate with us after they pass on.

I agree with Carrie, it does very much sound like a 'visit' dream. I too think they were letting you know that they are with you and very aware of what is going on with you. The number very well could mean that they want you to be sure you stay in touch with someone or they are reminding you not to loose touch with what is most important. Maybe it was a message that you will be given a number to a person who will be prove to be a great help to you so long as you make the call? Stress can manifest itself in dreams by showing itself in a physical way as you experienced with the numbness. At times it can provide a warning single to us that we need to take better care of ourselves so it doesn't lead to a physical ailment. With your Mom telling you she has a number for you it sounds as if she was the messanger vs your subconscious though.

I agree we should always pay attention to these dreams for it is one of the ways our loved ones on the other side do communicate to us. =)
