Also known as the bragg road ghost lights.

We went to see the lights Sunday night. We got there right about dark. IT is an 8 mile road that is straight as an arrow. It runs where some train tracks used to be. What we did was drive down the road with the parking lights on and then found a place to pull over and park. We then got out and stood in the road looking around. Whew, that was scary just being there in the middle of the woods, complete darkness all around you.

My husband saw an orangish ball of light up in the trees. I saw a bluish white ball of light behind us while looking in the rearview mirror. We all ended up seeing lights several times.

It wasn't car lights either. You can tell the car lights from the ghost lights. The lights we saw were close to us. The closest was about 5 feet from us. The lights would glow for about 2-3 seconds. My neice has been there alot of times and says she has seen the light glowing for over a minute and it was close to them.

The scariest part of the night was when we were all standing around the two vehicles. There were 2 men, 2 women, 1 teenage girl, and 3 girls under 12 yrs. The men had walked down the road a bit and we were all standing by our 2 cars. You could hear crickets and frogs and all those wood sounds. It got very quiet and suddenly we heard a loud roar. It sounded like it was pretty far away but you have never heard the screaming and jumping into the cars. I didn't know I could move that fast! The men came running back and wondered what in the world was wrong with us! (it sounded to me like a bear roaring or like Big Foot would sound)

All in all, it was a very satisfying night. We did see the lights and got a good scare in the bargain!

I've been down there several times and I've also seen the lights in the rearview mirror. Hubby swears it is an optical illusion and that somehow the lights from the main road are reflected. He's explained it, but I'm still not 100%.

As for the roar -- check out my post in the Enigma Attic section. Even though Bragg road is in Hardin County, it isn't far. My mother in law, who lives next door to us, has been hearing odd sounds for a few weeks.

A fellow by the name of Rob Riggs wrote a book several years ago, called "The WildMan of East Texas" in regards to East Texas Bigfoot sightings, black panthers, and the Bragg Road lights. It seems that sightings of Bigfoot have occured pretty frequently in the area of Bragg Road. You may have had an encounter! It is an interesting book, some of his theories are a little "out there", but interesting.

On a much less paranormal, but still scary note, rumor has had it that some local goofball who kept exotic animals unleashed his African lions last year to avoid getting caught by authorities. I don't know of the truth to it, but last year there were sightings by several folks, one of which was a hunting guide who was able to identify them. A friend of ours had one of his pet goats nabbed by one -- he actually saw it late at night in his pasture. I haven't heard of any sightings of them in months, but it is plausible they could have gone into Hardin County.
