My thoughts and prayers are with this amazing city, all of those who were effected by the terrorist attacks, the injured, those who lost their lives and their grieving families.

This is one of my favorite cities in the world. It is difficult to explain to anyone who has never been there, but London is charmingly quirky, dignified, gregarious and reserved -- all at once. There is an energy to the city that is unique; it is a grand dame that has seen it all, suffered great tragedy but still maintains her humor and joy for living.

Just the other day my husband was teasing me with a low air fare he had found, knowing we couldn't go there this year. However, in a few years, we will be back. This is a place I want my own children to experience: a city that balances the eras of history with grace, that cherishes the old and embraces the new, and home of some wonderfully friendly, resilient people.

This morning, I was so distraught by this horrific tragedy and yet crying happily because my son Brian and his fiancée Amanda weren’t there. Two days ago they were…they stayed at the Imperial Hotel at Russell Square. (The Double-decker bus blew up just around the corner.) They left Toronto Monday night to London, arrived Tuesday morning and stayed over night and left for Paris yesterday.

Today I talked to my son at 3 this afternoon which was 9 pm his time. At that time he just found out about it. He and his fiancée were out sightseeing on their own for the day. When they got back to their hotel, their group told them what happened about in London. I explained to my son what happened because he couldn’t understand French television. When I mentioned where the explosions were at the underground tube, he was very upset. Brian told me he recognized 1 of the 3 because he was there at King’s Cross.

Now I’m going to worry about them for their rest of their trip. They won’t be home until Thursday July 28th. They both are on a 21-day bus tour throughout Europe and also staying 2 extra nights in London at Imperial Hotel. They even bought a day trip tickets for the Double-decker tour. Here is a website about their bus tour: http://www.contiki.com/en-CA/Tours/Europe/European.Vista/Itinerary.htm[/URL] He also said that they had a wonderful day in Paris.

I too was very saddened by the news reports of the horrific terrorist attacks in London. =( My prayers are with those who lost their lives and their families in their time of grief. My heart also goes out to the all those affected by this senseless and barbaric act of violence. Evil almost seems to kind a word for the soul-less monsters behind these bombings and terroist acts of past.

Carrie I have never had the pleasure of visiting this glorious city, but from all that I have read, heard and seen it certainly is a desitnation I would love to visit.

Aww (((Spookette))) it is understandble you are worried about Brian and Amanda traveling in Europe during this time. It must have been a great relief for you to reach him and know they are ok. I know I too would feel as you do and no matter what anyone might say it won't take away the worry. I'm certain security and caution will be highly escalated all over Europe and many locations globaly, they will have a save trip and passage home. Everything will be ok Spookette. ((hugs)) Their tour looks wonderful, before you know it they will be back sharing stories and pictures with you.

Hi everyone

I havent been on board for a while what with one thing and another but I have always tryed to read whats going on with everyone.

Yesterday we held a 2 minutes silence to remember those who had died or been injured in that horrific attack last week, my best friend is an ambulance driver and was up by kings cross, he escaped unhurt but had to help deal with the aftermath this has had a bigger impact on him than hes letting on. They showed pictures in the paper of the men who showed no thought or feeling for innocent people who were just going about their daily business. What drives these people into doing these things? why do they feel that they have the right to take other peoples lives? they destroy familys and communitys! How dare they think that they can do this, they come into our countrys we give them homes and jobs both here and in the states, they are our neighbours one of them was even a school teacher and this is how they treat us.

What sort of punishment could you give to these men who take lives in mass, I know 4 of the main bombers were killed in the explosion but there is still 2 left they have to find.

Sorry I dont mean to go on but why must the world keep suffering from all this continous violence

(((((Lynne))))) There is no way to explain senseless violence like this. All I can say is that there is evil in the world and it consumes these people who commit these attrocities and those who encourage them to do so. I think the US, the UK, and other countries who value the lives of their citizens are going to have to take a closer look at our immigration problems.

Hugs also to your friend, the ambulance driver. I know that was a horrible ordeal to go through.

Carrie, Lynne, I can't agree with you ladies more. It
irritates me to no end that people these people think they have a right to commit these types of acts. When I heard about what happened in London, I was shocked and very saddened. My heart goes out to all of those affected.

I agree Carrie, I do think
we need to take a look at our immigration problems. These are different times, and I do believe that we can not be as welcoming as we have in the past.

Lynne, your friend sounds like a very courageous man. Everyone involved was lucky to have him there that day to help.
