I went and got a dragonfly tattoo yesterday. I have been wanting a tattoo since I was in my teens. 20 some odd years later I got the nerve up to do it. I just love dragonflies! I have a true story about one and I think that is why My love for them has deepened.

I am a lover of all creatures (even mice and snakes [Eek!] ) and several yrs ago during the summer a very large dragonfly flew into our home. It was around dinner time and the thing flew and landed on our electric store( which the burners were on) and it burnt itself a little before I could snatch it up. The poor thing I felt so bad for it I even put ice on the part that got burnt. It was still very much alive and I did my best to help it. That night it rained and I had the dragonfly under a small plastic table on a towel with the hopes of it maybe getting better and be able to fly away.

The next morning I came out to find it still there but trying very hard to fly. I took it to the front of my house (because I figured there were too many birds in the back and I didn't want to chance a "meal".)
This little guy tried and tried to fly and then up he went. You could imagine how happy I was to help this creature and then it happened...................as it was flying up a blue jay flew by and ate it [Mad] !!!! I now believe that the higher power have a very sick sense of humor! But all I could do is laugh at this point. Who knows why it happened this way but maybe It was all about helping a hungry blue jay and not the dragonfly. =P

Well I hope you enjoyed my true story because I couldn't make that one up if I tried! [Sigh]

Congratulations on your new tattoo!!! - It looks great! So how'd it feel to get inked? It was so exciting when I got mine, I was practically jumping up and down. The worst part of it was the itching afterwards, and the anticipation before hand, but it was worth it. Don't freak out when it peals, don't scratch and no soaking in the bathtub. [Wink] One of these day's I'm going to get another dragon, gotta find just the right pic though.

That was a funny/sweet story. [Laughing] Sometime's all you can do is laugh.

The pain was horrible!! I never felt anything that painful in my whole life. Must be because it was not a "fleshy" area. Anyway I love it and Am so happy I did it. But no more for me [No]

Hope a Bluejay won't fly by and start peckin' on your lower back! Yikes!!!! Your tattoo looks really cool though.
Haha, I try to do the same with bugs also. If they enter the house I try and catch 'em and set them free outside.

I love the tattoo!!! Congratulations! They do hurt...but so worth the life time of enjoyment...I think anyway [Wink]

I love dragonfly's too and have thought about getting a tattoo of one. But I have three tattoos now so...I don't know about adding a fourth. We'll see.

That was a great story. I felt bad for the little dragonfly...but life does take it's course I suppose. [Laughing]
