hi. my name is jada. i live in Louisiana. i was wondering if anyone has heard of gravlings... and if so, what do you know about them? ...i'm not sure but i think that i've had an encounter with one when i was a child...

Hi Jada. Welcome to Spiritkeep. I hope that your enjoy it here. I've never heard of gravlings, so I can't help you there but I'm sure that we'd all like to hear your story.

well when i was little i would never sleep by myself... somebody had to stay in bed with me until i was asleep. so my mom usually would. but the way my room was set up was there were 2 doors -- making my room sorta like a huge hallway with a closet and a window and all my stuff -- but one door lead into a hallway where my parents bedroom was and the other lead to the bathroom and my brother's room and the guest bedroom. well i always slept by the window and my mom would sleep by the door.. until one night i decided i wanted to sleep by the door... so my mom and i changed sides of the bed. well i fell asleep and awoken to a strange little creature... it wasnt very tall and it was grey... i don't remember much about it because i turned over and pulled the covers over my head. the next night i was back by the window and my mom walked in and was like "i thought we changed sides" and i replied "yeah.. but there are monsters on that side of the bed" and my moms face went pale... but being a child i didn't think anything of it. well a couple years ago my mom asked if i still remembered that night.. and i told her "yes. i dont think i'd forget it" and she said "what did you see? because i saw it too" talkin about me freakin out on her! well not too long after that one of our friends came over and he is really big into the paranormal stuff and he started talkin about gravlings and he started describing them. my mom looked over at me at the same time i looked over at her... he described exactly what we had seen. but i'm not sure exactly what a gravling is.. or does.

** i was tellin my boyfriend about this... and he thinks i'm crazy! he believes in ghosts.. but not my gravlings.. so i was just wonderin if anyone knew anything about them. so i could prove to him that they are real.
**but maybe it wasnt a gravling.. but something similar.. i don't know. i was young and my memory is vague.. but i know what i saw...

Jada, the only reference to "gravlings" I could find was from the Showtime series "Dead Like Me". I never watched it, but surmise it has a paranormal theme. From the gist of what I found, a gravling is somewhat like a Grim Reaper figure, only on a small scale, and are capable of causing humans to have fatal accidents. This information was only in regard to the television series, so I don't know if it is a case of the writers lifting a folklore term and applying it to suit the needs of the series. I also checked with my husband to see if he had ever heard of the term and he thought it sounded familiar but couldn't quite place it. He wondered if it was a term from the Dungeons and Dragons game.

Can you give us a little more detail as to what you saw? When you mentioned small and grey, it almost reminded me of alien encounters I've read about. It is interesting that you and your mother saw the same thing.

it was small and grey.. he had 2 arms and 2 legs.. but he crawled.. right into my fathers room after exiting mine. (so my mother says-- i dint watch him..) But he sorta resembled Gollum off Lord of the Rings..

I too have never heard of the term gravling before. Does your friend who described them to you have some information about gravlings that he can provide to you? Did he also have an experience like yours that prompted him to find out more about it or was gravlings something he read about at one time?

Like Carrie I too was reminded of alien encounters I've read after reading your description. I know crawling is not one of the more common descriptives used with these encounters but it's not unheard of. I too find it interesting that both you and your Mom experienced the same thing. Did either of you ever see this thing again after that night?
