Starting September 13 at 9:00 PM eastern time there is a new TV series that follows the travels and adventures of two brothers as they cross the U.S. in search of their father while encountering numerous supernatural forces along the way. I've heard from sources that this is a well done program...just thought some of you might be interested in catching it.

Thanks for the heads up Elvira, I had heard about this series it does sound like it will be really good. =) There are a few new PN shows airing this fall, dealing with things from ghosts to aliens. It's great to see this increased interest in the PN I just hope all of these shows are done well. There is nothing worse then a poorly done PN show/movie as it almost makes a mockery of the subject when it's cheesy.

I watched the first show and it was really good and scarey....in fact a lot scarier than I expected! The two stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are always running into strange forces of evil....can't wait to see the one this Tuesday nite!!

I keep hearing about this, and that one may be able to follow the show on-line. Anyone know what network it is on?

PCE not sure if it is on more than one network or not but it's on the Space network here. I missed the pilot ep when it first aired but they did a repeat airing yesterday. I stumbled upon on it so missed the first 15 mins of the hour long show.

I didn't find it to be scary but there were some neat and at times creepy special effects. IMO it is hollywoodish (if that's a word lol) but I still enjoyed it. If your expecting to see a show that is more true paranormal then you'll be disappointed. Have to admit the brothers are easy on the eyes [Big Grin] and it will be fun to see the different entities they encounter and the way they are portrayed.

I caught half of the first episode, it's airing on WB here, not a bad show. Those brothers are awful nice to look at [Big Grin]

I'm in Canada, the central portion. Space is one of the channels we gained when we added our digital box. Sounds like you don't have Space network where you are? Perhaps it's called something different but is the same programs aired? Miranda noted it airs on WB is that the same for you? I'm not familiar with WB, what type of programs do they have? =)

WB airs Charmed also. It has other shows too but I can't think of them at the moment lol. Ahhh One Tree Hill and 7th Heaven. I don't happen to watch those particular shows but they are one there. =) Yahoo had a thing to watch the entire 1st episode. Not sure if it's still up there but worth a look.

That's cool Yahoo did the entire 1st episode. WB sounds different than space. Types of shows on Space are: Star Trek (Enterpirse, Voyageur etc), Andromeda, Angel, Outer Limits, Tracker, PSI factor the paranormal, Relic Hunter and more. It also has sci-fi related movies and Paranormal shows: Unexplained Mysteries, UFO's under investigation, Encounters with the Unexplained, and Space News Monthly plus things like Legend of Memphere (search for sea monsters) plus other programs that are often UFO related. =)

I forgot to watch Supernatural tonight but I see it's on again in the wee hours so will have to tape it (the brothers are worth taping [Big Grin] ).

Noticed the other day while surfing the program list that Supernatural is also on KTLA. By luck it was starting shortly so I didn't have to tape the late hour re-air on space. I noticed while it was on the WB symbol at the bottom right of the screen so I guess we do have WB. =)

I enjoyed this ep too, and yep surprising they made it out in one piece. I guess doing in the stars would put a damper on the show [Laughing] so I'm betting they will make it through numerous close calls in eps to come. What I like about this show is getting to see the different entities, creatures etc. I had never heard of this flesh-eating creature (it may have just been based on someones imagination) before but it gives you the creeps to think about it. I got the impression from bits I've read on this show that the types of things the brothers will be encountering are based on things commonly reported accounts like ghosts(exaggerated I'm sure) along with those that are Legend and lore or not. Interesting and entertaining way to learn about them. I think the next ep is on shape-shifters or maybe it was skinwalkers - lol - looked good anyway. Glad this show airs at different times on 2 networks in case I do miss the first air tuesday night. =)

I just read a brief summary in TV Guide about the show next week. The two brothers battle a "phantom traveler," a spirit that possesses people preparing to fly and forces them to crash their plane! Let me know what you think.... [Rainbow Smiley]

That sounds like it's going to be a good one. =) Great another thing to add to my fear of flying. [Laughing] I managed to miss the last ep [Thud] was it good?

I saw part of one episode. Sorry but it was too phony to watch. I don't really care to much for shows like this because people end up believing some the garbage they present.
Parapsychology has a tough enough time as it is without TV making bad shows about it.
I didn't care for it much at all. But then I don't care for most of those 'ghosthunter' shows. Too much fluff and not enough substance. At least the ghost tour shows are just about haunted places and don't make any pretences.

But by all means watch the show if you like the guys. When I do catch Charmed its generally not for the great plots. =)

Nakis I do agree with you. I too find it hollywoodish (as previously noted) I just like seeing what they encounter as they seem to be 'based' on various legends and lore out there. They just did Bloody Mary (I haven't watched it yet). So even though it's cheesy I like it for that reason (and the eye candy lol). I haven't heard of some of the legends so it's interesting to do a little google after watching to see what they are all about. =)

Have you watched psychic witness? It's new (I added it to the Great Room thread Gremlin started) and is based on actual cases where a psychic was utilized.

Yep you are right these shows do not do anything positive for parapsychology so in a way it is good that they are hollywoodish and cheesy so they can't be compared. Yes unfortunately the ghost huntings shows do not have enough substance and you know I'm not so sure they are overly positive for parapsychology either? You now have ppl jumping on bandwagons because of it, for example: well Jason and Grant say this or that so it's got to be true. lol I'm not saying their method of debunking first isn't a good one and they have done good work in the field, but it's yet to proven to be the best method. Trying different methods and stepping outside of the box needs to happen when dealing with a subject that has more questions than answers and is one we are all students in. There are no experts, yet some firmly believe every word these guys say as the PN gospel. I don't get GH here but I heard about a line that Jason used that said something to the effect of "well if I don't see it then it doesn't exist". OK. I hear it's a decent show, it's just funny though how many now base their opinions on what they have or would say vs thinking for themselves. Like the great orb debate out there, now that Jason has said certain orbs are energy (the non dust/moisture variety) but I don't think they are spirits many no longer even consider that some just may be related to PN (based on comments I've read at various sites). lol Are spirits not energy? How can you close your mind to something that has yet to be proven? Then you have Most Haunted, they provide some history and first-hand experiences of great locations but they are investigated by a team that is sloppy, overly dramatic and doesn't debunk enough. How many times kind a guy get possessed, and if all your going to do is scream and cuss (gets annoying) then stay home. "What's that Sam, I should act possessed". lol

I agree the best shows out there are the ones that simply feature haunted locales without the pretence. =)

I agree that a lot of people have ended up taking the folks on these shows as the "all knowing" experts in the field. I like the Ghosthunters show, even though I don't always agree with them or their methods. Same with Most Haunted. I get a kick out of watching it, including the nutty Derek fellow, but I couldn't take much of their field research too seriously. It is a shame some of these shows couldn't reach a happy medium (that was kinda punny). [Laughing]

Supernatural is a fun bit of fluff, and I do like the premise that they are using actual myths and legends. Of course, the eye candy doesn't hurt at all. [No] It isn't as smart and well written as X-Files, but it is good for an hour's entertainment.

I also agree that I really like the programs best that just go to a haunted location and discuss the myths/legends/sightings and experiences at the locale. I wish Travel Channel and some of the others would crank some more of these out rather than the same old shows.
