I agree that a lot of people have ended up taking the folks on these shows as the "all knowing" experts in the field. I like the Ghosthunters show, even though I don't always agree with them or their methods. Same with Most Haunted. I get a kick out of watching it, including the nutty Derek fellow, but I couldn't take much of their field research too seriously. It is a shame some of these shows couldn't reach a happy medium (that was kinda punny).
Supernatural is a fun bit of fluff, and I do like the premise that they are using actual myths and legends. Of course, the eye candy doesn't hurt at all.

It isn't as smart and well written as X-Files, but it is good for an hour's entertainment.
I also agree that I really like the programs best that just go to a haunted location and discuss the myths/legends/sightings and experiences at the locale. I wish Travel Channel and some of the others would crank some more of these out rather than the same old shows.
