I saw ghosts as a child. The one that stuck with me was seeing my grandfather. My parents were seperated at the time. I was 11 or so. We were at my dads and I was dancing in the doorway to a Rod Stewart song. lol I looked to my rite into the dark for some reason and there was a man in a coat and a red had. I totally spazed out. My dad hunted that man for an hour. After he asked what he looked like. I told him and he sighed and smiled. He told me my papaw died wearing a coat and red hat. He had a heart atack in winter going up into the attic.
I have not seen a ghost in many years, and have even asked them not to show themselves. Im not ready. I feel them. My hairs stand up I cant catch my breath and chest wants to cave in. Hard to put into words.
The past 4 years more and more things happen. The dreams, the knowing. OBE's and Lucid dreams.
It comes when it wants to.
The bad thing is not knowing who you can talk to about it. Last time I told my husband that I floated off the bed he thought I needed to get checked.
I beleave they come to those who will pay attention. Not just anybody can feel or hear them

I view ghosts as being earthbounds, the ones who 'haunt' a place. Souls who for whatever reason decided to remain here and not cross over to the other side. Spirits are the souls who have crossed over, however they still do visit and watch over us and are around us more than we may realize.

Thought I should clarify my understanding so you'll know what I mean when I say that it sounds to me that it was your Grandfather's spirit you saw and not a ghost. =) To bad your Dad didn't ask what the man looked like before going on an hour long search for him, guess his concern was just there was a stranger in the house. Glad he was able to identify who it was after you described what you saw though. Has your Dad or anyone else in your family had any experiences like this? It's not uncommon for more than one family member to have like experiences.

Your right I don't think many ppl can hear them (in a verbal sense) however I think a lot of ppl can and do sense them, for some it's just now and then and for others it's more regularly. Some ppl may sense things however they have never attributed it to ghosts, spirits or negative entities/energies because it's not something they have ever considered or thought about. I've encountered that when sitting around with a grp of ppl and the subject comes up.

I hear what your saying though, it's not always easy to find someone to talk to about things like this. Even though more ppl have become more open or accepting of the possibility of paranormal there are still many out there that don't believe and think those who do are nuts. lol Your not alone though, many ppl here have had experiences like yours, myself included. =)

You have to have a sort of supersonic hearing to be able to hear them. Usually you can't. That's why a lot of those shows use recordings so they can hear things that you may not normally hear without aid. The feelings are just that there's another pressence. Like if someone comes behind you, you can kinda feel them. It works the same with spirits, ghosts, etc. Even if they are dead or such, they still have an aura.

I have a friend who has something like that. When she was little she saw auras and ghosts, often them asking her to help them. She delt with it in a few ways. What she would do, and sometimes still does, is sleep with a night light so that there isn't complete darkness, and often goes to sleep with the TV on. It helps to have a dreamless sleep. You can also use sleeping pills, but those can cause problems. She would also use yu go oh card ironically enough. She said the info about dark lands and such draws them. She had a dream once where many ghosts were around her and when she awoke her yu gi oh card box had it's lid off and they were spread out across the room. She also uses a lot of crosses and such since she asked god to make them stop and now she rarely has an expierience.

Of course not everyone is religious and it doesn't work for everyone, but it may help. As for your grandfather, maybe he just wanted to see his granddaughter. Not something to worry about too much ^^ You may also want to try saying, "May only white light enter this room" in your bedroom. It worked for me.

I believe something to that extent too. That everyone CAN hear and see them, but only a special few may or will.

Way before I was born my parents lived in apartments. They left one day and when they got back the land lady asked them if my dad had forgotten something b/c he had come back. My parents just looked at her. She explaned that my dad or a man looking a lot like him had come and entered the apartment. He had a box in his hands.The lady told my parents what he was wearing and it was my dads Father. The landlady saw him. He had been dead a few years.
My Mother had something. She was cooking my GRANDFATHERS FAV. beans( HE WAS DEAD AT THE TIME TOO ) She was tasting them and a voice came out. They are not done yet. lol My mom nearly craped her britches.
My Mother never really said it but I can guess now that a lot of her drug problems began by tring to ovoid something.
It seems my grand father had been one to come back once in a while.
He now has both his children with him.
