Anyone have anything fun planned? Hubby and I are having dinner with some friends of ours. We have a guy who actually trained as a chef (don't laugh, you have to remember where I live) and opened an Italian restaurant in a neighboring town; we were lucky enough to get reservations. I'm looking forward to it!

I bought hubby a new DVD player and he bought me a gorgeous amber necklace. No surprises, but thats okay. We've been married long enough that when gift-giving occasions come up we end up telling the other one what we want.

Nice gifts Carrie, I think it's sweet that you two like to spoil each other. I know what ya mean, there is usually no surprise on the gift giving between us either. Actually we often agree to buy something we need for the home in lieu of exchanging, during the bigger holidays that is.

Hub use to be a romantic, he would surprise me with little things on valentines that he obviously put a lot of thought into, like leaving a poem or letter that would lead me to finding a gift hidden somewhere and a hint to where he was taking me. Ahh but that was some time ago, today it would be a shocker if he planned something. Tomorrow will bring a card, some candy and a rose. The ol guy has become very predictable. I don't mind at all, so long as he doesn't come home with a card that makes me wonder if it was meant for another. Yep one year I got a card that read: My sweetheat, Although there are many miles that seperate us today, my heart is filled with thoughts of you from afar. I hope you can feel my love and know how dearly I miss you..... Apparently 7-11 doesn't carry much of a card selection. lol He had to work late and on the way home he realized he had forgotten it was valentine's day. With stores already closed the sev was his only option and he didn't want to come home empty-handed. Well given the questions the card raised, he would have been better off coming home with a roll of sweet tarts.

To be honest I've always felt you shouldn't need a designated day to show or tell your sweetie how you feel. It means so much more when he or I do the unexpected at odd times during the year. Valentine's can be a special day for young love but ya know it's really just another money making holiday for shops and restaurants. It's over rated really. I did get my man a card and some of his favorite chocolates though (a little box for the boys as well as they are my sweeties too). =)
