I've done a lot of reading on types of dreams we can have, and on how to understand what they mean. I'm no expert though I've managed to understand my dreams better. Journaling has helped as does considering what is going on in my life. My dreams are often vivid and I remember at least one, most days. Some are recurring, random, or a replay of the day, some are a release of feelings/thoughts and others have helped me with problems, have had precog ones as well as visit dreams, lucid types and ones I feel were maybe obe's, and have experienced sleep paralysis. In some recurring ones I've encountered what I believed to be a ghost/entity. They are the reason I am posting this.

I listed the types of dreams I've had as I have considered these types in my attempt to make sense of these recurring ones. Sorry for the length of the post but it is hard to describe in just a few words, and there is info (not dreams) I feel may be relevant.

I talk in my sleep fairly regularly, and at times am aware of it. Often it's just babble while having an ordinary dream. However at times it's not and the dreams are not at all ordinary. I feel both in the dream and out of it at the same time. I'm aware I'm dreaming and of what is going on around me, including when hubby is talking to me. They are vivid and almost always involve a ghost/entity. I'll explain further in a bit.

Hubby snores horribly so at times he moves to the spare room so we can both sleep, and it saves his ribs from becoming bruised. [Laughing] I wld move but with my back the way it is I need the better supporting mattress. It is relevant to note as my talking (not babbling) will wake him despite being in a another room, and I'm aware when he does come into the room (before he tries to wakes me).

I should also note we have had odd experiences in our home off and on since we've lived here. Some we found a cause for but most not. Most of the time it has not frightened us nor have we felt anything negative. We have thought it to be a spirit visit, loved one letting us know they are here. Though we've wondered if a passerby is/has been here at times, due to certain experiences we've had. The last cpl of months there has been different activity. A banging noise which started off minor but became a bit concerning. Started in the evening but has mostly been late at night, I'm usually on the puter on the only one still up. At first it sounded like it was in the basement, but then moved upstairs. It was so loud the last few times it sounded like someone fell against the wall. The garage is on the other side of the wall that the louder banging has been heard on, everytime we've checked (I got hubby up) but found nothing out of place, nobody there and all quiet outside. We've tried to find the source even in the day but so far nothing. A cpl of times it was like tapping on the outside wall next to our bed, couldn't find the source for that either. And twice in the last month a figure (shadow) was seen in our bedroom, once by my son and once by hubby. Both during the evening as they were walking down the hall (our bedroom is at the end, no lights on only moonlight). We have checked but found nothing that cld have created it. Perhaps it's something we haven't thought of, but I wonder if it's related to the banging and/or the dream last night?

I've had these recurring dreams since we've lived here. They always start in our bedroom I'm laying in the dark trying to fall asleep. I sense a presence in the house, sometimes I'm aware it/they are coming down the hall towards the bedroom and other times they are already in the room with me. I always see it/them (just their shape) as it/they stand near the end of the bed. I know they do not belong here, they don't give me a good feeling. I start telling them to get out, this is our house etc over and over (both in the dream and out loud), which wakes hubby. I'm aware he is in the room (or just entered if he had moved earlier), can see him and the figure(s). I ask him if he sees them, he doesn't (in the dream and out loud, he responds in the dream and out loud lol). As I continue to tell them to get out, he is trying to wake me (for real), I'm aware of this but I don't acknowledge it until I know they are gone. It is not SP as I can move fine, I don't feel restricted in anyway, and I can talk. Nor does it seem like lucid dreams I've had. I wish I could explain it better. Btw I'm a sane person, no illegal drugs or drinking involved. [Wink]

Last night (Friday) hubby was so tired he passed out cold on the couch. I didn't have the heart to wake him so covered him up and let him sleep. Well I woke him anyway, this time I wasn't just talking but yelling. It was like the other dreams that start in the bedroom, however this time I saw the face of the one that entered the room, it was gaunt. I was aware when hub came into the room but wouldn't take my eys off of the thing that was there. I kept telling it to get out, I don't recall swearing at it, but apparently I did. When I saw it leave I turned and asked him did you see it this time, it was right there (I was awake). He didn't, but what he did note was the room was really cold, a different temp from the rest of the house. [Shock] It's melting outside, and no wind to create a window draft, and it was cozy when I went to sleep and when I got up this morning. This happened once before but it was evening, I went to get my book and couldn't get over how cold the room felt. No reason for it considering the heat was recently on. Thought nothing of then, but I do wonder now.

Are these dreams more than just a dream? Could recent activity and certain experiences in past be related to them, it does feel that way? Or is it just they have my mind working and I release it in this form of a dream?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, any and all thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Cat =)

Wow Cat! That's amazing! I'm sure there are a multitude of possible explanations. My first impression is that you are "aware" on more than one level. You are aware of the "presence", sleeping or awake, and you react to it. There is obviously something about it that unsettles you, so your reactions are getting stronger (i.e. - yelling, cursing). Perhaps this/these entities were not originally in your home, but followed you or a family member home (attatched to person or object). This would explain the new experiences.
That's my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply Porkchop. =)

As I say till know I've pretty much chalked the recurring ones to just being a dream. The activity we have had over the years has never really bothered me/us (most anyway), just this recent stuff has us wondering. Maybe that's why the dream has gotten more intense, perhaps my mind is thinking of it more than I realize? It's hard to shake the feeling it's more than just a dream. I'm open to hearing any thoughts or opinions, and am curious if anyone else has experienced something like this?

I usually don't post my dreams and it's been some time since I've talked about the goings on in the house, but I can really use some help with this. [Sigh]

Hmm the only thing new to the house is an old dining room set that we were given last year which belonged to hub's grandmother and I believe great-grandmother. We have it stored in the basement. Don't feel that is it though, as his bro was using it at their old place w/o any odd things happening. My boys are sensitive as I am, so it's possible someone followed one of us home, or a passer-by decided to hang out and not just pass through? We knew for certain we were sharing our last home with an earthbound, but we've never really thought this place was haunted. Just considered the experiences had as being spirit visits, and perhaps a ghostie passing through now and then.

There is history to the land and area we live in. We are not far from the river and a few miles up the road is a large old fort once used, it's now a tourist spot. Over the yrs we've heard of others in the neighbourhood who have experienced things now and then. Some (including my boys) have seen an old man wandering on our road. One time friends came to visit and were curious where the old fella went (and who he was) noting he wasn't here when they came in. As they approached our home they saw him near the end of our driveway and when he started walking up the drive they assumed he was coming to our place as well. A younger man has also been seen, but so far only my one son has seen him while biking home from a friends one night. Though there has been a cpl times he briefly saw a young man standing in his room during the night. Maybe it's the same guy, maybe it was a dream? In our old home activity was pretty regular (day or night), but here it goes in spurts and the odd time just one thing will happen (we've been here 12yrs now). Not sure if any of the above noted matters or not?

I may keep the recorder in the bedroom so if it happens again hub can record my talking, maybe we'll get lucky and get an evp along with it, which may give us a clue? It's easier to investigate and/or hunt cemetaries, alleged haunted locales, or other ppl's homes, than it is your own home. You want to know if anything is here, and obtaining evidence of it would be great, but at the same time you don't want to acknowledge it too much in the event doing so makes things more active. I've captured moving orbs here and an intense light I have yet to figure out the cause for. I still need to listen to several hours of audio tape, I let it run after something odd was noted.

Sorry again for babbling so long here, gee maybe that's why I talk in my sleep so much [Laughing] , but it's hard to explain this and part of the last 12yrs in a paragraph or two. [Embarrassed]

Thanks again for your thoughts PC and I welcome any others you or anyone else may have.

Hugs, Cat =)

PS - This may or may not be relevant. One night I was laying in bed reading, with my kitty lounging near my feet. I was looking at him when he kinda perked up. Just then above the bed a little below the ceiling (near the end of the bed) there was a bright flash of light, like a really big orb. Kittie saw it as well, and he started to follow something with his eyes as he ran around the bed. I couldn't see what he was looking at but he was fixed on something. He jumped from the bed to the window ledge (we have wide ledges) despite the curtains being drawn, as if whatever it was went out the window and he was giving chase? I know it sounds weird, and I don't blame anyone for doubting it. It's just one of the odd things that have happened that I can't explain, and seeing it was in the bedroom I thought I should mention it.

edit; tried to shorten things more.

Cat, just from my gut instinct, I would say you have a visitor; possibly, as you said, a hitch-hiker. It does sound as though it is more than just a dream. BTW, my husband does some of the same things you do in your sleep.

Given the past activity and the start-up of this recent stuff, it does sound like something is either trying another tactic to get attention, or it is another spirit. I'm also wondering more about the dining room set you mentioned. The spurts of activity may not be centered around it, but if there is possibly a spirit attached to it, even a good, kindly grandmother energy, it may be "playing off" whatever was there to begin with and gaining energy.

I think the tape recorder is an excellent idea. It would be interesting to see if an evp shows up on it. Keep us updated!

Thanks for the reply Carrie. =)

Good to know someone else gets the same impression. I know you are also sensitive to these things. I do want to try and rule everything out but at the same time can't shake the feeling I have about this.

Not sure about the dining room set, I would have thought my bil/sil would have noticed something seeing they had it in their home for awhile? You bring up a good point though if there is a spirit attached to the dining room set, it may be "playing off" the energy that has been here all along and is gaining strength from it, or visa verse.

Well there is something I forgot, hub was reading over my shoulder and said what about the organ. Also stored in our basement is an old organ that came from the church my folks attend. They were given it when the church decided to purchase a new one. It works fine. They didn't have room for it at their place so they asked if we wanted it knowing I play a little. Try playing a church organ late at night in the basement with only a candle lit. [Eek!] LOL I forgot about it because we ended up covering and storing it when we rearranged things downstairs, as I wasn't tinkering on it much. Considering the number of funerals that organ was played at over many years, if any object has a tag along or two odds are it would be that piece. It's always had a funny creepy feel to it, but I think that's natural just because it's old and was played at many sad times. Being creepy doesn't mean it's haunted. I'm sure it has some residual energy to it though.

Will keep ya updated if anything of interest is noted. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Been having some odd vivid dreams last few nights but none that are like the recurring one. However we had another weird banging again yesterday. This time it was in the afternoon and not in the kitchen area like the last ones were.

My son usually works the late night shift so on work days he is often downstairs in his room either doing some reading/work (for classes he is taking) or watching tv, which is what he was doing. We were the only 2 home so the house was pretty quiet. I was sitting in the kitchen working on our taxes, which is pretty much in the opposite corner of the house from where his bedroom is. From where I was sitting I could see 2 of our 3 cats, they were basking in the sunlight that was coming in through the patio doors. The 3rd one was with my son in his room, snoozing away on the bed next to him. The bed doesn't have a headboard and he has it right in the corner so it's up against 2 walls. The one wall that runs along the length of the bed is an outside wall so there is nothing on the other side but the foundation and (frozen) ground. This is the wall that he heard and felt (his back was against the wall) two loud and hard bangs. The first one woke the cat who sat straight up, with the 2nd one the cat bolted. lol He came upstairs to see what I was doing thinking maybe I caused it somehow. I didn't though, as I was still sitting at the table as I was for the last cpl hours. I didn't hear it, but then you can't hear anything in his room unless your downstairs by it or sitting in our bedroom (he's directly below us). Even then it's dull sounding as being in the basement we dble insulated the room and put in a noise reduction ceiling so we wouldn't hear his stereo late at night, and we could have our privacy. =P

He was up one night that it happened in the kitchen, he said it sounded just like it. The weird thing is though, the garage is on the other side of the kitchen wall so you can understand someone/thing hitting it from the other side, but there is concrete and solid earth on the other side of the wall in his room. Obviously someone/thing can't be on the other side. His room has had activity in past and there was even a stretch where he opted to sleep on the couch as he was not feeling comfortable in there. Nothing odd has happened in there for some time though, until now. I really wish we could find a source for this (natural cause) as it's frustrating not knowing what is causing this. If it is a spirit or ghost that's doing it, why would they be banging like that and so hard?

Does anyone have any ideas of a natural cause that might be causing this, and/or what it could mean if it is something paranormal related? We've checked all sorts of things and have found nothing, but maybe there is something we haven't thought of? Please I would appreciate your thoughts/opinions.

Thanks, Cat =)
