I have been hesitant to post this, but I told Cat I would.

The past few months, I have noticed strange sounds, and had a few strange experiences in my home. The sounds have been a scratching noise coming from the attic, and footsteps walking down the hall or stairs. There have been a couple of semi-loud bangs as well.
I checked the attic thoroughly, and there are not any critters up there, or any ways for critters to enter. It could be tree branches scratching the roof, but it seems unlikely. The walking and bangs are still a mystery.
The weirdest thing is the feeling of something walking on my bed. It feels like a pet, but my cat is never on the bed when it happens.
The house was built in 1980, and noone has ever died in it. We moved in in 1988. We have had several pets pass away in our time here. and some of them did sleep with me while they were with us. I wonder if one is coming back to visit? My current pet (Oreo - big ol' cat) seems oblivious to it. However, it never happens when he is on my bed.

During this same time period, I have noticed that I am more "aware". I sense, hear, and feel things in many of the places that I go to, and I travel all over the state. It has always been this way for me. At times, I am very "aware". Other times, I am not aware. It's like it turns on for a few months, and then goes away again.

What'cha think?

I'm so glad you decided to post about your recent experiences PC. =) As you can see by recent postings and ones of past many folks have and are experiencing odd activity as well. I feel by sharing with each other we can help each other understand what may be going on. Plus we learn a little tiny bit more by these things, and just knowing your not alone can do wonders in itself.

Sounds like your a sensitive PC, even though it comes and goes with periods of being more aware. All sorts of things can cause us to shut things out for a time or become more aware. It may be a conscious thing, though you don't really think about it enough to realize you are blocking things out, or opening up more to them. Possibly subconscious as well. Perhaps it's environmentaly related, certain seasons, moon phases or weatcher conditions may have an effect on how easily or not a spirit and/or ghost can make it's presence known, so maybe we feel/experience them more when their energy is higher? May also be related to things going on in our life. Increased stress, being overly tired, being of a certain mindset, major changes in our lives, may contribute to increased awareness or a decrease in same. Or if you find you have been doing things that have kept you more focused on the paranormal (meditating, day dreaming, watching shows related to same, researching etc), that focus may be opening your third eye more too? And as many believe the veil is thinning, so it's not surprising more ppl are having periods of heightened awareness now.

Any chance the scratching is a mouse in the walls by the attic? We had mice trying to get into the basement via the window wells, that made scratching noises. That's how my son discovered they were there, he was laying in bed and heard scratching by the window. Although if you weren't in his room with the tv off you couldn't hear it at all, so depending how loud the scratching is and where you can hear it from you can rule out a mouse in the house as well.

Knowing you searched for the scratching I'm guessing you checked checked for what could have created the bangs as well? Having experienced unexplainable bangs recently myself I know finding a source is not as easy as one would think sometimes. Bangings can have many causes but when none can be found it's a mystery indeed. Maybe my banger went for a visit to your place. [Laughing] You know PC with the footsteps, unexplained noises and the feelings of awareness you have had lately, it sounds to me you might have a spirit visitor. Or possibly someone followed you home. Did you buy anything used lately, always possible a previously owned item has an energy attached to it as well.

Feeling something walking on your bed sounds alot like one of your beloved pets is paying you visit too. Those sensations are unmistaken especially when your a pet owner. Many ppl have experienced that same thing (me too) and to me there is no reason why our furbabies wouldn't come to visit just like our loved ones do. Who knows maybe a furry visitor is causing the scratching and banging noises? =)

Have you considered trying evp, taking photos or video around your place? Doing it at random, when odd things occur, and you get that feeling. You never know when something might show itself, or in what way.

Have you considered trying to develop your abilities more? It's innate in all of us and I feel it's possible to tune in more, to what degree I don't know but with it being part of who we are no reason why we can't nurture and tap in. Though some folks seem to have shut things out to the point that it may be very difficult to tune in (so to speak) again.

What sorts of things have you experienced while on the road? Thanks for sharing this with us, please keep us posted if anything further happens. =)

It does sound like you have some activity. I think that you may be on the right track with pets. Btw, my Oliver doesn't sense squat, so cat's don't always let you know about pn activity. But if they're avoiding the bed when Oreo's there then he just might not know. I have had my cat, who has passed on, walk on my bed. I've also had somebody sit on the bed when I was in the room alone. And, I think that footsteps are a favorite paranormal pastime for our visitor's. All of it guaranteed to drive you batty wondering if it's really pn or just you. [Laughing] Don't tell me these visitors don't have a sense of humour!

I think your "awareness" coming and going are pretty normal, at least for me it is. It would be really interesting to take some pics and see if anything show's up. Please keep us updated. These things make me think I'm nuts when they happen to me so I love reading about it when they happen to somebody else. I don't know how helpful I can be but it sure does help me to know I'm not nuts, or at least not nuts all by my lonesome. [Big Grin]

[Laughing] Well Renee your in good company, I too wonder am I nuts sometimes then I read others have experienced similar things too and I breathe a sigh of relief. It is nice to not be nuts all by your lonesome though. [Laughing]

It does seem that activity has increased in recent years, including more ppl noting an increase in sensitivity. Kinda makes you wonder if it is because our world is in such turmoil and global weather has been so bizaare (generating extra energy and emotion), that it is drawing more spirit energy here, or if it as some say the veil between the two worlds/dimensions/realms is thinning so we are feeling/sensing them more? Or maybe because of all the major events that have happened in recent years ppl are more alert, so as a result we are naturally using our innate senses more without even realizing it?

Anyone else notice this, and wonder why as well? [Sigh]

Anything further happen recently PC, don't leave us hanging here? [Laughing] Been anxious to hear if you have found any plausible causes for the banging or scratching, or if it has continued. Anymore footsteps or occurrences on the bed? Also curious to know what has happened while you were on the road. As noted before it does sound like you have had some spirit visitors, or perhaps a ghostie followed you home. [Shock] Either way let us know what's been going on, and if you plan to try evp, taking some pics and/or video etc. =)

Sorry I have not updated recently!

The dirty little buggars have chilled out since I made the original post. Still some walking on my bed, but that doesn't bother me. I'm convinced that is a former pet. I have a camera ready in case they act up again.

I never really saw anything when I was traveling, Cat. However, I would definitely feel presences in several locations. Some I would pick up on as I drove by it, never actually stopping there.

If I am a sensitive, which I believe I may be, then the traveling experiences would make sense. I live in Virginia, the oldest state in the nation, so there must be many, many active areas. In fact, many articles / books I have read, stated that Virginia is the most haunted state in the U.S. Of course, everybody says this about their own state! LOL!

Back to my house. Nothing new has been brought into the home. I have many antiques, some of which were used in war and other bad situations, and nothing ever occured before. It may be that "something" followed me home. I sincerely hope it is nice. If it is expecting to frighten me, well, it's picked the wrong cowboy. (he says as he does his best John Wayne imitation)

It's not unusual to have things suddenly pick up or go very quiet. If it's spirit visits especially, they don't hang out all the time but will let us know when they are. Ghosts on the other hand seem to make their presence known regularly though it's still not uncommon for activity to occur in spurts. For whatever reason a ghost becomes more active for a spell then it's as if it's gone on vaction or something for awhile. [Laughing] At our last home where we knew it was a ghost and not spirit visits only, he didn't do things everyday though activity was fairly regular.

Glad to hear your keeping a camera handy. You may even want to do some random shots when things are quiet, if you do have an earthbound or a passer-by that opted to stay, you may gatch a glimpse even though he/she is not making their presence known at the time? Worth a shot hehe. With not purchasing anything new (old rather) around the time this started, and no activity was noted when you brought your current antiques into your home doesn't sound like it's an item that is the cause. Unless you've done something to one of those items? Any remodelling in the home done at the time this started?

Maybe evp will give you some answers? Ask some questions and let your recorder run overnight. May take a few times, but you never know you may get something that will help explain who is there. Do you think this could be spirit visits only PC, anyone come to mind that you feel may be coming to visit and wants to be sure you know about it? Have you considered going to some known haunted locales there to see how it makes you feel, and/or take some pics or recordings? From what you describe I think your a sensitive too.

Well keep us posted pilgrim, and you can always tell the ghostie "I'm not gonna hit, I'm not gonna hit ya, like bleep I won't" if it tries to frighten you. Just adding to your JW impression. [Big Grin]

HEEEYYYYYY!!!!! Massachusetts is the most haunted state in the country!! =P Just kidding. Yeah, they're all the most haunted. =)

Hi PC.

One of my cats, Mittens, comes back from time to time to visit.

It sure sound like you have a ghostie in the house. No one needs to have died there to have your house haunted. Ghosties do migrate. Especially to people who are sensitive. You're like a candle in the dark.

I believe that it has to do with our biorythyms. It's hard to figure out since how we are is so complicated and part of the universe. There are things you can do to make yourself more sensitive. The first thing is wanting. You create your own reality.

When 'it' walks on your bed, open yourself up to sense what it is. Normally you'll just get an idea or feeling of what it is.

There are so many factors that lead to times of increased activity.

Thanks for posting it. Keep us posted on what happens.
