On a recent overnight investigation of a Haunted House here in NW Iowa, 2 of the females who stayed in the house awoke at about 4 am. To the sounds of coins dropping near the head of the mattress on the floor, that they were sleeping on.
First a penny landed near them, then a dime, and then a quarter. I was present and heard one of the coins hit the floor.
What is known about the occurrence of coins being tossed at people in Haunted locations?
Is this a good sign, or a bad sign, or neither?

I have heard Sylvia Browne talk about this sort of thing. Basically its just a way of getting our attention. Maybe they should try and see what it wants??

Ohhh sounds like your investigation had some interesting activity. Did anything else occur besides the coins, and any luck in capturing something anomalous in your photos/videos and any evp tried?

It is my understanding as well that having coins left for you (you cannot explain why or how they got there), and even what the gals from your team experienced, are a good sign and not a bad one. They are often associated with spirit visits, or ways a spirit/ghost will use to get our attention. I've read Syliva's comments on this before as well, along with several others of which all have noted the same, it's nothing bad.

I have had odd experiences in past with coins. Although with the exception of one experience the coins left were the same (all pennies, or quarters etc). I believe I've posted about this before, but will share the 2 most memorable occurences given the topic. =)

One time I believe I had a little spirit help by having a trail of quarters appear when I needed them most. I was franticaly searching for quarters one morning (my son needed them for a school outing) after finding my coin jar and purse were without. I went through everything in a few rooms/closets (pockets, jackets, drawers, catch-all's, unused purses etc) and come up empty handed. When I returned to my bedroom to search it again low and behold there was a trail of quarters on the floor. A few in a row leading to the bathroom door and few in a row on the other side of the closed door. =) I even had a hard time believing it at first. LOL The mixed coin experience happened in my bed, I found some pennies and dimes on the sheet (under two blankets) on the side where nobody had slept. I know for certain nobody but myself had been in the bed and I did not lay under the covers with clothes on. I won't go into details but will just say it was very odd and something we couldn't explain (and we tried).

I can tell you nothing bad happened after having experienced coins appearing like that. Nor has it to others I know who have experienced coins appearing out of nowhere, same with stories I've read. Saw this woman on Montel who kept finding pennies, in a line leading into her bedroom closet. In the closet was a little pile, and when she removed a baseboard (or something like that) she found another pile in the wall. They were all very old coins (mostly pennies I think, I may be wrong).

What were the dates on the coins, anything stand out, were they all the same? It may have been a way for the spirit or ghostie that is there to get their attention without frightening them. With the coins totally 36 anything significant about that number to any of you or the residents of the home? Or 9 if you add the 3+6? Have the homeowners experienced anything with coins before? Anything relating to money to the residents, or former residents of the home discovered when doing research on the place? Just considering maybe they were a message of sort and not just an attention thing alone? Please let us know if you do find anything that might explain why coins were dropped that way. =)

I will discuss this with one of the girls tomorrow. And let you know what they think.
I do know they were worried it was a bad omen, so they said a prayer over the coins and tossed them out the window of their SUV as they drove down the Hi-way. Praying that they might benefit some homeless person traveling that road.
Our leader says he got some disturbing EVP's in the house. Two Ghosts were talking together and the 1 st Ghost said, "Put aspestos in his drink" ( Meaning the drink our Leader ). Then the other Ghost said, "No. He'll know we did it. It's wrong." The 1 st Ghost said, "Just do it." or something to that effect. i haven't actually heard the EVP, but that is what our Leader says he found on his recordings.
This angered our Leader.
No wonder that is just plain cowardly on the Spirits part.
The whole experience has been draining, and issues have risen in our group that may just tear us apart, as a group. It maybe time for me to go solo again.
As I formulate my opinions about what I should do, I'll inform you. And hopefully get a written account out about the excursion, hopefully on Sat..
Cross your fingers!

Sorry to hear this investigation has put your group at odds. [Sigh] Do you feel it was just what happened during it and how much it drained you all, or maybe some things were underlying and this took it over the top? Well I hope you all can work it out. Fingers are crossed you can get a written account. And if you do decide to go solo for now, perhaps down the road you'll meet some new folks you can team up with.

Wow those are quite the evp's [Gasp] will they be posted somewhere that we might be able to hear them? Cowardly is right, why in the world would they say such things? How does your leader know for certain they meant his drink? Any chance they were talking about something that was done in the past? I still don't feel the coins were a bad omen, just my opinion (I could be wrong), it actually may have been a way for one of the ghosts to give them a heads up we are here. Maybe the one who was telling the other no it is wrong to do that? Well no harm in playing it safe and getting rid of the coins as they did.

Good luck with all this TT, please let us know how things are going and if your able to share more about the investigation itself would love to hear it. =)

Hi, This is a cool story about the coins.I personally have never had an experience like this one. On a note about your group leader...I would not take his word for what he recorded on the trip.I would want to hear them for myself.

I agree with what Infinitedreams posted. In my experience when objects appear or disappear it's the ghosties way of getting attention. Usually, but not always. There are always exceptions. But mostly just to get your attention. After all, they're there and you're not acknowledging them. What would you do? Something to get the persons attention.
Some of these activities though is meant to get a fear reaction though. Unkindly spirits like to get a rise out of people like unkindly people do. It gets them high. Some people/ghosties feed on fear, anger, depression.
