One day I was in my hall putting on my shoes, out the corner of my eye I saw a black dog walk into the hall and then turned around and walked out again, I thought it was our Chester......he's a black lab/cross. So I said "what you up to"....still putting on my shoes not really taking much notice. Then I realised that Chester was out walking with my husband, so I thought they must be back. Off I went through the house to look for them but they were still out on their walk! [Eek!] Sometimes I see the dog out the corner of my eye, never looking straight at it. It doesn't bother me at all, just abit annoying when I find I'm talking to myself and not my dog... who's in another room. [Shock] [Embarrassed]

Why not talk to it? Maybe it likes your company.

Did you have another black lab/cross before chester? Or do you know if any previous owners (if your not original owners) may have had one? Wonder if maybe one of Chester's parents are stopping in for a visit? Any chance you might catch a photo of the dog? That would be cool. =) Keep a camera handy and next time you see it snap a few pics in a row. Has your hubby or anyone else seen him too, or is it just you? If not, if your a bit more sensitive it may be why your seeing it, or it's bringing you a message of some kind though I'm not sure what. Any loved ones on the other side have a dog like this at one time, or did they have a love for labs or dogs in general? Has Chester acted up at anytime or seem to be looking at something your not, maybe he's seen the dog too? =)

No we haven't had any other black labs before, but chester has got a brother, don't know if he's passed over or not.Sorry don't know about any one else having lived here with a dog. My husband and kids may have seen him but thought it was chester. Chester can't see any more as he is nearly blind but he did used to stare and follow some thing round the room, that used to freak me out as his gaze would go up in the air. [Eek!] To my knowledge non of my relatives had a black dog. =(

Another thought came to mind. Perhaps this dog is a totem animal, yours, or your hubs, or one of the kids? Seeing you have noticed it most, if it is a totem animal, I would lean towards it being yours. Just a thought. Maybe he/she is a member of Chester's family, a parent or some member in his blood-line, that is checking in on him? With his not able to see well anymore (aww sorry to hear that hugs to Chester), a spirit animal might be there supporting him? Why wouldn't/shouldn't/couldn't animals have spirit visits as we do? [Wink]

You noted Chester has noticed/followed something before that you couldn't see, if he wasn't agitated by it, he very well may have recoginized the dog if that is what he was seeing? =)

Keep a camera handy, maybe you will luck out and snag a photo of the dog, that would be really cool. Who knows, it's a long shot, but maybe something will be noted in the photo which may indicate there is another spirit visitor with the pup, one of your loved ones perhaps? [Rainbow Smiley] Any other unusual things happen before or since you have seen this dog? Even something small you thought odd but just shrugged off at the time? Spirits will give us little signs which can easily be missed and/or dismissed. IMO Small items being moved (picture for example), keys or jewlery going missing for a bit, light flickers (which can't be explained), things with the phone, feeling a light touch, tv turns itself on, etc etc. Just something to consider.

Perhaps some others may have some thoughts/opinions as to what this might be, or they have experienced something similar before? Do keep us posted if anything else unusual occurs or if you see the dog again. =)

We often get odd things happen. If things go missing I ask for them back. I've looked for things and found them where I've already looked, abit annoying when I'm in a hurry, but there you go.....spooks hve a sence of humour too. I've had my name called out "Angela", but my husband has always called me "Ange" I've thought that the kids have called "mum" but when I shout back "what" they look strange at me ! My brother has house sat for us and can get alittle unnerved, He's gone out of the room leaving the lamps on but when he's come back into the room the main over head light is on. [Sigh]

Good story. Sounds very classic.

It sure sounds like your house has some ghosties. Nice ones. If they weren't you'd know by now. The name calling, the things going missing and coming back are all mostly innocent stuff. I've found that the lights going on or off is usually for recognition. In one case it was because she was scared. Doesn't sound like your case.

Thanks for sharing. Let us know is anything else happens.
