Hi everyone...I haven't posted for awhile, but something happens once in awhile that I thought I'd ask here to see what you all think. I really value all your opinions.

We live in a new house, built for us so we are the first owners. It has happened occasionally when I am in bed, looking straight ahead, that I will see tiny white lights or spots glide past in our mirror, a three part mirror with the center flat and the two end sides set at an angle.

When I focus my eyes on the mirror, of course it goes away. But then immediately I'll look again straight ahead and in the corner of my eye I can see these 'floaters' or spots or lights go by again. It does catch me off guard, but I don't have a 'bad' feeling when this happens, more frustrated because the more I 'want' to see what it is, the more I look in the mirror and see nothing. Does this sound like anything paranormal to you? What would it be called if it is? Honestly the thought of 'anything' in our room besides me freaks me out! I've chalked it up to the 'floaters' our eyes see once in awhile but now I'm not so sure. Has this happened to anyone? Thanks, Madammacabre

Is there any possibility the lights could be a reflection from something else such as car lights from the road? Even car lights hitting some sort of glass or metal surface in your hallway and reflecting back to the mirror?

Mirrors do have a certain reputation for being involved in the paranormal. I know we've had several posts here before on the subject. I've also heard the belief that having multiple mirrors in a room that reflect onto one another, "trap" spirits. I don't know if I buy that one or not, but it is an interesting tidbit of folklore.

It is also possible you are seeing floaters. Do you see them at any other time or place?

Check on the car light idea. When we first moved into our home, I was puzzled by some lights in our hallway until I finally figured out they corresponded to when cars came down the highway in front of our house.

Hi Carrie, I'll have to check the headlight idea. Our bedroom looks out over our backyard and there is a street quite a ways from our house, nonetheless it is there. I'll have to check on that one.

It does not happen at any other time. Thanks I'll do some checking.

Carrie is right mirrors are spooky at times...but I too have had experiences with "things" in the mirror...so I can relate!

It does sound like 'floaters'. Surface tension, dust in the lubricant on your eyes.
I think you need to get your eyeball lubricant changed. [Nutty]

I've had some odd experiences with mirrors.

Update: As I posted in the "Introductions" section, I have been gone for 10 months because my computer took a dive last December! I finally got a new one yesterday. I had to re-register under Madammacabre8 instead of madammacabre but we are the same person!

Anyway, I just wanted to update on this. I recently went to the eye doctor and I DO have floaters in my right eye, the same one I was 'seeing' something in the mirror (which is on my right hand side). So it all is debunked and it all makes sense now. Just thought I'd update, even though I originally posted this so long ago! MM

Thanks for udating about the "floaters" M8, those buggers can really annoy a person!! You stated that you are the first owners of your home because you built it but the land underneath it is as old as time. Things can be attached to it also. I'm glad it's not the paranormal your having to deal with tho.

Nakis, you are just hilarious with your "eye lubricant change"! I got a chuckle out of that!!

You all are gonna have to share those mirror stories with me because I've not had anything to happen with them. I'm as curious as a cat now!! LOL!!!! [Laughing]

This is kind of funny because I have been having experiences with lights. Small lights.
I just read something about lights like this that had to do with the person seeing them. Not that you are perceiving them in your mind but they are paranormal and it has to do with your presence. I just can't remember the explanation.

I had a weird experience the other day with a light like this but it was only a flash of light. I was getting dressed in the dark (as is my habit) and I couldn't find something on my bed. I couldn't see it but suddenly there was a flash of light exactly where it was on the bed. It was clothing and wasn't reflective in any way. I wasn't wearing my glasses so it couldn't have been that. It was a small flash of light right where the article was. Nothing relective around.
I couldn't 'feel' anything. But then I could just be desensitized to something commonly around me in my house. Perhaps my subconscious knowing where it was had my conscious mind perceive a flash of light where the article was?

I've come to overlook the teeny specks of light that I sometimes see. Mine usually are red, yellow or white hues.

A couple years ago during school time, I was watching my son walk down our road from our sunporch. From my left, in periphrial vision, a huge white light appeared but wasn't there when I looked directly at it. It was a bright white and very big in dimension (like a med. body ball) that made it impossible to not see. For days it did this and only in that one spot on the porch and I haven't seen it since.

Any feelings or ideas of what it could have been? [Sigh]

Hi Ghostwatch,

I have heard from several different sources that the balls of light are Angels. I have also heard that they are your loved ones that have passed over.

Now, if you listen to the guy's on Ghost Hunters, they say the balls of light are specks of dust. Which I personally do not believe. I see them a lot too. So have many others. I think maybe it is both Angels and our loved ones keeping watch over us. Like I mentioned to you before, I can personally use all the help I can get. LOL LOL LOL. I think everyone can use some divine intervention from time to time.

I will tell you about two experiences my Dad had about 4 years ago. The first one was not too long after my Mom passed over. He had just gone to bed in my room, I slept with Mom because she suffered from seizures after being injured and he would just come get me anyway, Dad said all of a sudden there was a very bright light coming through the bedroom window. The next thing he knew, his Dad,who passed away in 1970, was standing at the foot of the bed. His Dad told him not to worry about Hazel, thats Mom, she is here with me and she is just fine. Dad was also told that Mom missed us both, that she loves us very much and that she is waiting for us. It took Dad about a week to tell me, because he said he thought I would think he's crazy. That is far from the truth, since I hear voices and see people that have passed over. Actually, I saw Dad's Dad standing at the screen door at his Mom's house. He appeared just as solid as your and I.

The second experience Dad had was he used to trim trees from the power lines in Florida. He was on US 1 trimming A-Pines. The top of the pine started coming towards him and the feeder line. At about a 45 degree angle the top of the pine stopped and fell the other way. He said it was as if someone grabbed the top of the pine and pushed it the other way!!! The guy he had on his crew saw it too and could not believe his eyes.

There are many things out there that we do not understand. Maybe were not supposed too.

Wow, that story about the tree really gave me goosebumps...what's great about it is that someone other than your dad witnessed it too.

Yeah, I know that orbs are angels but this wasn't an orb. This light filled half of my vision and was very white. Maybe it was an angel, we've had so many orbs show up on film in our home. They weren't dust because of how they were shown. We took a picture one day before I left the kids alone in the house (they are 18 & 14) and they were the only ones in the pix. They were playing around with the camera & took pix of each other and the orbs were galore around them! When I returned, they were gone. My kids were definately in the right hands that day!! =)

I sometimes get the same thing when I take pictures too. What shows up are either orbs or misty forms. If the misty forms only happened once or twice in pictures, I would think there was something wrong with the film, camera or the way the picture was taken. But it happens quite often. It doesn't happen just in the house, I get it outside too. In all different lighting conditions. The forms are so well defined too.

Yeah, and alot of time there's one that is really brighter than the rest. When I get time, I'm gonna look through all pictures from years ago and see if there's anything in them. Ummm.... [Wink]

After reading your post Ghostwatch, I went and looked through the pictures I have. One thing I did notice that in the pictures when Mom or myself were sick, colds or flu, that is when the misty form shows up the most. I also found a picture of my Pomeranian that had the form around her too.

When I see the orbs, they appear to be flying past me, but when I turn to follow them they are gone.

I have seen things like that as far back as I can remember, but back then you did not talk about things like that. People would think I was out of my mind. Of course, sometimes I think I am.

Yeah WWN, we would be considered psycho back then! LOL!! I haven't gone thru mine yet but after I get done housecleaning today, I'll lug them out....whew, what a job that will be....

Instead of orbs that I see alot it's just black shadows, which is more disconcerting to me. =P

I know what you mean GW. I did see a black shadow at the house we had in Florida. I did not like it at all. It gave me such a uneasy feeling. I did go through the house burning sage and telling it to leave. I didn't mind the other ones. They never bothered anyone and I found them interesting, but the shadow one creeped me out. He, I say he because the shape looked like a male, would stand at the end of the hallway and just stare. At least that felt like what he was doing.

I think maybe on some level they do. I would like to think that they don't mean to, they just want people to know they are around. But, I am sure that there are some not very nice ones out there that take pleasure in creeping us out.

FYI. I just found out this weekend that as you get older the fluid in your eyeball thickens and can cause you to perceive sparkles of light. This could explain some of these instances.

Maybe some but not the white blob that I saw on my sunporch. I'm in dire trouble if that's the case with my white light because of the size of that thing!! It's pathetic of all the crap that disintegrates in your body when you age....too bad we can't just go in for a makeover or tune up! LOL..... [Laughing]
