Thank you, you have a great Thanksgiving too! I am all 'messed up' here, being Wednesday night but it seems like a Friday night or something.

We're hopefully going to my cousin's house for T-giving, my son (almost 5) has been sick for the past week and this evening had a fever so we'll see. I'm hoping he's better tomorrow! He keeps asking me if he'll be better and I try to reassure him, but honestly I'm not sure. He's had a nagging cold/cough for 5 days now and a trip to the dr. confirmed that his lungs sound great so that's good. However, he had tummy troubles all day today so like I said, we'll see tomorrow.

I was watching on the History Channel the true history of T-giving and it was riveting. It renews in me that I am so thankful for those early settlers. I just cannot imagine all they went through ~ I mean starting for absolute square one!

Anyway I digress, Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I know that I am thankful for you all! mm

A very happy day to those who celebrate the holiday.

Do you realize that a vast majorty of the countries of the world do not have a Thanksgiving?

Canadians do. Theirs is the third Sunday in October. Theirs is more a celebration of harvest and a last big family gathering before the deep of winter sets in.

I don't know of any other country that does a Thanksgiving Day... do you?

I'm a little late in wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope all of you had a good day!

Thanksgiving Day is a day for us to count our blessings, and to celebrate the harvest, much like they did in the old days. We have recipes for things like fruit salad and stuffing that have been passed down through our family, and we look forward to the traditions.

It is even a little more special now, after having searched our genealogy more in recent years, as it appears that my mother's family are descendants of the people who came here on the Mayflower. (Related to John Alden and Priscilla Mullins Alden. They are my 9G Grandparents, and Kell's 10G Grandparents.) My father's parents came here from Cornwall, England around 1900, via Ellis Island, so they weren't in on the early Thanksgivings, as my Mother's parents were. Just a small thought to add to what we think about this holiday.

I hope everyone found many blessings to count, even among the sadness or illness that has touched your lives in the past year.

Hugs and Blessings to all!!

Mare
