I need your alls advice on something.

I was talking to some people about a weird experience I had with what seemed to be an entity. I had asked for others thoughts and I got them, no problem. I am open-minded and had no trouble with anything that was said, even when I did not necessarily agree with them.

What I also got later on, was an email message from someone who did not want to speak in front of the others, giving me their "psychic impressions" on the odd occurence with the "entity".

Their message included some religious references basically pointing me in the direction of their chosen faith, saying I was being tested and needed the archangel Michaels protection, that I had healing to do from past lives and a lot to learn in this life, that I needed to ground and pray and on and on etc.

The point is they were not only off with their email but they were way off. I could almost make a generic form letter for psychic readings from the message that was sent.

So my question to you is...How do you handle such psychic readings, that are so far off the mark?

I did what I have done in the past, and sort of went along with it, thanking them for their advise and such. However, I was actually quite upset that a person who is so convinced of their psychic abilities, had sent me such lines of BS, however good intentioned they may have been.

They basically took information that they already had about me and polished it up to sound mysterious and important to my spiritual growth.
Then hid behind it to promote thier own religious faith.

I could use some advise and please note that, I do not hate this person nor do I think their faith is necessarily wrong, but I do not believe that they have a psychic bone in their body.

Thanks everyone,

Ravenheart

I've had similar things happen to me throughout the years. I take it with a grain of salt. If it is someone who charges money to others and regards themself as a "professional", I would probably politely tell them they just were not in the ballpark. From the sound of it, they were not charging you, but if they are charging others for that type of gobbledygook, they probably do need to be called on the carpet.

If it is simply an individual who fancies himself/herself a psychic, and just dabbles in the occasional reading for friends, I probably wouldn't say much. Hopefully, the folks they are giving their two cents to have enough sense to filter out the garbage.

I would say that the person who contacted you was probably not a psychic at all, but just a religious fanatic who would take anything as an excuse to put their religion in your face. I can't say that I am fond of people who do things like this, and to me, religion is a very private and personal matter, and I don't need anyone to tell me how they think I need to change my life to live it in accordance with THEIR faith, or where THEY think I am falling short of being a good little religious do-bee.

I won't name it, but you will find one basic religion in the world that is always trying to find converts, always knocking on doors, preaching up a storm on a TV show or performing "faith healings", or telling everyone they meet how to live and how to conduct their lives in any circumstance. Assertive religion is not the same as a psychic reading at all. This is just a religious zealot that thinks they have the duty to make everyone in the world a convert. It is a bunch of rubbish.

So, don't let this person shake you up. They are selling their religion to you under that guise of anything they think you will buy, in this case, trying to get you to believe that what they say is based on psychic impression, when it isn't at all... They just know that it is a good way to package their "goods" to make you accept what they say 110%, and turn your life into a duplicate of their own. They would love to see you start to behave just as they do, and get out there and tell everyone you meet how to live and what faith to follow. Theirs!

Follow the faith that your heart tells you to follow. Just learn to spot the religious zealot, peel back the layers to find the real reasons they said what they did, and take this person's e-mail with a grain of salt. It was nothing more than a sort of "sales pitch", much like you see in junk mail or in a "paid program" TV commercial.

Understand, everyone, these are just my thoughts on the matter, and I don't expect anyone to view this just the same way that I do. I hope I have not offended anyone with my comments here. I am a very spiritual person, but my views of religion may differ from yours. Everyone has their own personal reality. Find the path that makes your heart happy, and follow it, whatever that path may be.

Ravenheart, maybe this will be helpful for you in sorting out what this person was telling you. I hope so.

Many blessings to all.

I would say that just take it for what it is.

As you said, you're a bit upset that someone has couched their prosetylization in what they know you believe in already. I consider this to be good. It helps you to realize what you believe in. Maybe just a tiny bit but it helps you.

I used to commute to work with a woman who was like this. She believed in various things over time and everything she believed in she thought other people should believe in it too. I stayed open to her beliefs and respected them. Kept quiet about what I really thought of some of them. For friendships sake. We were friends but not really close. I never liked it when she got a little more hardsell on some of her beliefs. But dealing with what she said and did helped me in defining my beliefs. How I view the paranorma, spiritual, religious, faith, etc... .

Along with all the others who do the same thing.

And like Carrie said. With a grain of salt.

=) I've never been offended by anything you've said so far Mare. =)

Just don't say anything offensive about the Great Spaghetti Monster. I won't take kindly to that kinda of talk. [Wink] =)
