About eight years ago, when I was just beginning my forays into paranormal investigation, my then-group decided to take a trip to a local site that is infamous in my area: Hell Hollow Road. I was kind of a wuss at the time (scared of the paranormal events but also very interested in them), so when the guys- three others who I will call Bill, Brian, and David- decided to get out of the car to go walking along the road, I decided to stay in the car. Bill was driving Brian's car (he thought he was the god of all driving and wouldn't let anyone else drive when we were ghosthunting or anywhere else for that matter), and Brian took shotgun, while Dave took the rear driver's seat and I had the rear passenger seat.
It was extremely dark down in the Hollow, and the only way I could follow their progress was by watching the lit ends of their cigarettes as they walked around. We hadn't brought flashlights, as this was a really impromptu event. At any rate, I was watching them walk around for about ten minutes or so, when my ears picked up this strange noise. It kind of sounded like a drum, beating a steady beat, and it started very slowly at first. I blew it off at first and just continued watching the guys out the corner of my window. They were about thirty or forty yards away.
After a minute or so of hearing the drumming noise, I began to see a black, man-shaped shadow that was very tall going around the car in a counter-clockwise motion, keeping time with the drum beating noise I heard in my head. As the figure went around the car (I could only see it out of my peripheral vision, but not directly) it began to get faster, and along with it the beating kept tempo. Only a short time later, probably only a couple of minutes, it was going so fast that I could barely keep track of it, and the beating of the drum was so loud in my head that I could barely think. I was frozen with fear, unable to speak or call for help from the guys. I just knew that if I opened the door to call to them, then this THING was coming in after me, and I knew that I had no means of protecting myself at the time. I began to think really hard at the guys, praying for them to notice that something was way wrong and come and help me. Like "Please notice; please help me!" over and over in my head.
All of a sudden, I saw them come running towards the car. I would hear this story from them later, but they said that they were walking down on the other side of the pond, trying to track something "nasty" (in their words). It kept disappearing and reappearing a short distance away from them, and then finally they couldn't find it at all (I wouldn't call any of them psychics, but they are all pretty sensitive to a point). They kept looking around for a bit, then all of a sudden, Dave said, "It's at the car!" Of course, that's where I was. They turned as one and looked toward the car. It was "lit up like a christmas tree", they said, with a bright white light eminating from inside. It looked like I had turned on the interior car light, they told me later, although I hadn't moved from fear of this entity I was sure was trying to break into the car and attack me.
They came running back to the car at full speed. Dave was the first one to get in. I remember all of this at this point only very vaguely, but I remember looking at him, and not recognizing him at all. It was like I was looking at him through someone else's eyes, or like looking through a shroud, with my brain stuffed up with cotton. I knew that I should remember them, but I just couldn't think and couldn't rememer why I should remember. I guess I must have looked weird, because he said "Tab, are you okay?" The words came out of my mouth, without my bidding: "Yes, I'm fine", with a really toneless, flat quality, I was told. Next, Brian and Bill got in, and both of them asked me the same question one after the other, and I gave the exact same reply, in the exact same manner. I looked at them and it was like I didn't know them at all, not even Bill, who was my boyfriend of a year and a half at the time. My head was all fuzzy and foggy, and my entire body felt leaden, like I couldn't move if I tried.
Well, at any rate, they all got in the car and we started to drive away at a high rate of speed. The guys were talking about what they had experienced outside the car, but still today I don't remember what they said. The farther we got, the better I felt, like whatever it was was receeding and couldn't hold onto me for the distance we were putting between us and Hell Hollow.
It came to pass that that idea wasn't true. It turns out that the entity that attacked me was just using me as a way to get to Brian, who is (I found out later) very succeptible to spiritual attacks. Not long after I started to feel better, more like myself, than Brian started to act strangely, not talking like himself, saying strange things, and all kinds of weird crap.
The night ended with a full-blown possession of Brian by this entity, which called itself "V". I don't remember many of the actual events of the rest of the night, as I was recovering from my own attack but still fuzzy, but I remember us pulling into the parking lot of a local church and getting out of the car. Brian kept saying weird things in a voice that was not his own, and he showed strange strength, but for some reason not his usual skill. Brian is a Marine, as is David. He kept trying to physically attack Bill and David, and I was sent back into the car after the first attack for my own safety. I remember Brian lunging at Bill, and Bill stepping aside easily (I know that Brian has the skills to probably kill all of us if he wanted to; he is a Marine, and that's what the military trains them for, but for some reason he couldn't access these skills, luckily for us!). Brian collided with the window that I was looking out of, and I can still remember the sick, twisted leer on his face.
At one point, he tried to stab himself in the chest with the knife he always kept on him (I think a throwback from the Marines), and he had to be restrained on the ground by David. He was put into a submission position on the ground by David (a position that they both have seen even drill seargents cry from being used on them), and Brian only laughed, a deep, evil, and chilling laugh. David then proceeded to grab Brian by his hair and beat his forehead hard- full forced- into the pavement about eight times. He came away laughing maniacally again, without a bruise or blood or anything, not even the next day or days later.
I guess in the end, the entity called "V" got too weak to continue its attack and left, because after a couple of hours of this, Brian was back to normal and we went home, exhausted but generally whole.
Well, there it is. That's the whole story, or as much of it as I remember. My belief is that for some reason the entity couldn't get to Brian when they were out walking around Hell Hollow, so it got to me instead. I didn't know how to protect myself, and when Brian let his guard down it jumped from me onto Brian.
I'll take thoughts/comments about this. It's still stuck with me after all these years, even though the actual possession part was only a minute or two at the most.
