Yes, I agree, GrimReaper. This current government's so-called "homeland security" is everything else but. I am so sick of their being too busy finding new ways for spying on the average American to do anything about making our border and ports more secure. Just so long as the good ol' boys of the Bush Squad can get those cool trips for golf vacations and take themselves to exotic places for the rich and famous, etc., they have no qualms about letting the taxpayer pick up the tab. But, spending money on truly making our homeland secure, like building up our Border Patrol with people, technology and equipment is nothing more than talk, it seems.

You are probably right about 9-11. But, with the critical segments of our government not working together, we cannot expect to ever have real security for this country. All we get are bigger tax bills for the middle class and the poor, with nothing to show for it, along with difficulty sleeping at night because we don't know where the Russian and Chinese bombers are right now. Along with our Swiss cheese borders and poorly-secured ports, that is the icing on the cake! Brings back memories to me as a child of how we were taught to huddle under our school desks and cover our heads with our hands when the air raid drills were held at school. I haven't forgotten how that made me feel.

So now, our government talks of bombing Iran. That would be a move that would only make things worse in the world right now. Can't any of the government officials see that???
Perhaps they should be learning to how secure a border by practicing on the Iraq/Iran border? They might learn something about securing our own borders from that experience.

All in all, it is a quagmire... and if our government doesn't wake up to reality soon, what will become of all of us? I hate to even think about it! China is killing us softly with fake diabetic test strips (the same brand I've been using!!!), unsafe medications and lead in more imports than just our children' toys and baby bibs (we even have a lead covered drop cord from China... how nice!) The FDA isn't functioning, either, I guess. This makes for such a lovely life, doesn't it?

I wonder if the illegal immigrants truly know what they are getting into... do they really want to live like this? They are chasing a rainbow that has evaporated. Do they know that? Now, we have American retirees moving to Mexico in greater numbers than ever before, simply because they can't afford to retire here!

Will we ever see the day when America wakes up and smells the coffee? I hope it will be soon!! We MUST take control of our country, or we won't have a country.

Grim Reaper, I admire your grit and courage! Such a shame that age and health takes it's toll on the bravest and wisest of souls, leaving us with only those who don't even begin to cast a shadow in bright sunlight. Maybe if enough Americans wake up soon enough, perhaps we can prevent the forming of a continent-sized North American nation called AmerCanaMex, or whatever, where even fewer of us will matter, and we will have 3 times the number of "good ol' boys" to run the show for their own profit. I am so sick of the greed, I just can hardly contain myself.

If I could remove just one human trait from the world to make things better, I believe it would be greed. And if I could increase just one human emotion toward others, it would be love for those who are in need. But who listens to a babbling broad in a place like Arizona, where most think we have all gone crazy with the heat? Someday, perhaps they will hear our words, and maybe some will wish that more had listened when there was still time to make things better.

Grim Reaper, you are a fine example of a true American, and when I fly our flag, if flies for not just my family (my husband is a Navy Vet of the Korean War)... it flies for you and others like you! God bless you for being who you are, and caring so much about saving young lives!
