So what is the most unusual thing you ever heard while listening to or reading the news?

Years ago I was having lunch at work when there was a news report on the radio about someone who was attempting a robbery and the victim said something to the effect of having no money or something like that and the would be robber responded by saying there were no bullets in his gun.

Dont know how unusual this is, but as an author it caught my attention. Stephen King was in a bookstore in Alice Springs ( unannounced ) and began signing his books. The girl behind the counter had no idea who it was and assumed it was someone scribbling ( graffitiing ) King's books. It wasnt until she'd retrieved the manager from her office ( who realised by the signature on the inside cover who it actually was ) and King had left the store that she found out weho it was.

Whoa, can't top those! LOL!! People are the weirdest species, aren't we?!

I can recall hearing about some guy who robbed a Circle K convenience store, and after he left and the police got there, it was discovered that this idiot had left his driver's license on the counter!! He was buying liquor prior to the robbery, and the clerk had carded him to check his age... so, the police just met him at his house and arrested him. All of the cash was still in his pockets.

Yes... humans can be very interesting! Truth is always stranger than fiction! LOL

I posted this same topic on another forum and got an interesting response:

I heard that one of the companies that is involved in building that giant fence to keep the illegal mexicans out of the US, got busted for employing illegal mexicans to do the labor.

Now those last two are funny. And not only is truth stranger than fiction, it can sometimes be dumber as well =)
