I feel Summer drifting away, as sharp cold winds hit me on Hwy 70 heading to Marysville this day (October 11, 2008, Saturday).
I am supposed to meet Ghost Girls fan and Marysville guide Tammy Straling. I pull up to Tammy's beautiful home and meet her family. Tammy greets me with a smile filled with sunshine and happiness. Her eyes are radiant with excitement. She is ready to show me the haunted places of Marysville.
We have a full day to complete this preliminary and Tammy drives me to our first stop. The Silver Dollar Saloon. This place is absolutely gorgeous. As soon as you walk into this establishment, you can feel the history. There is historical eye candy throughout this building. Gary and Jacki Cumings are the owners and Gary proudly shows me the upstairs area that used to be a brothel. On the doors are names of the ladies of the night. One door has the name 'Lil' Britches', the next door has 'Peg Legged Sally' and so on. All the prostitutes had colorful names. Megan Landrum, the bartender with her contagious smile tells a few tales about the saloon with Gary adding in the spices for her tales.
Some of the things that I learn are that serial killer Juan Corona used to own this saloon. When he was arrested for a multitude of murders, the police dug up the floors to this saloon. Many patrons feel that there are ghosts upstairs. When storms come through, there have been various orbs seen throughout the second floor. The brother of Richie Valance was taking pictures of his band. When the pictures were developed they discovered orbs around the band members. There have been times that the child booster seat has moved on its own. Two employees witnessed this and it scared them. To top off their scare, they walked outside and saw a full body apparition standing in the middle of the road. This scared them so much, they never came back. One employee says that she never wants to be left alone upstairs.

TJ Norths - The Outdoorsman - Sutter Surplus Sales - it is rumored that Cora the ghost haunts the upstairs area of this building.

The Bok Kai Portal & Pavilion (which is right next door to the Silver Dollar Saloon).
Mary Aaron Museum
There is a lot of history in Marysville, remember this is the place where I saw my full body apparition at a private residence. I also learned that the Beckwourth Trail ran through this area and when William Woodhams, a pioneer walked this trail into Marysville, he witnessed some fires raging through the town. William was headed to Marysville to finally settle down.
The Brick Coffee House Cafe:
Here I met the lovely Inger K. Price, she served me a delicious peanut butter dream mocha and a pumpkin spice latte to Tammy. Inger sat with Tammy and I, and explained that the Brick Coffee House Cafe is very haunted. Before she got into the story of the cafe, we learned that she is the guide to the Tales of the Crypt Candlelight Tour of the Old Marysville Cemetery. A place where you will learn about the Pioneer Cemetery history from Inger and the Friends of the Preservation of Yuba County History. I learned at this cemetery, in which I once visited have some notables buried there. Such as: Mother Macy aka Joan Hoskins - she is known to have brought in Eucalyptus trees into the community. Also, buried there are the three founding fathers of Marysville. The famous stagecoach driver that shot Black Bart is also buried at this cemetery. There is a rumor that Black Bart also frequented the Silver Dollar Saloon. Some of the survivors of the Donner Party are peacefully resting at this cemetery. The cemetery was established in 1850 and there is a strong Masons and Knights of Columbus influence at this cemetery.
After Inger related all this information to me, I wanted to nail her down about the haunting activities of The Brick Coffee House Cafe. Inger said that she believes the establishment is haunted by a woman ghost and that this woman ghost threw some sesame seeds at her. Alan Wayne Lambert (an employee of The Brick Coffee House Cafe) said that once a whole dish of baking powder was knocked over by an unseen force. The woman ghost of this establishment, many believe was a hooker. Another time, the hooker ghost threw an Oregano Leaf plastic container at Inger. Rumor has it that this hooker ghost was murdered at The Brick Coffee Shop Cafe. Back in the 1800s, there were apartments that were attached upstairs to this cafe.
It took a whole day for Tammy and I, to complete our preliminary scouting investigation. It was a fun filled day and I have a lot to report to Ghost Girls - Celebrity Psychic Nancy Bradley and Ghosthunter Extraordinaire Shannon McCabe. The Ghost Girls will actually be headed to Marysville in the near future for a full-on investigation.
I headed back to Sacramento and prepared myself for a Ghost Girls Party at a haunted home in El Dorado Hills. I stopped off at Shannon McCabe's house and jumped into her Pontiac Solstice known as Ecto1. Shan threw on Brown Sugar by the Rolling Stones and Burning Down the House by Talking Heads on her IPOD and zoomed up the freeway at a nosebleed speed of 80 mph. I had a crick in my neck this morning when I woke up, but after riding in Shan's Ecto 1, the crick was gone.
We arrive to our destination, another gorgeous home, but this time in El Dorado Hills. As we get inside, there is an assortment of food, Chinese noodles, shrimp, chocolates, Swedish meatballs, etc. Robert Reppert (Nancy's husband and lead investigator of Gold Rush Ghosts) was setting up equipment. Nancy and Shannon both looked quite lovely this night. Nancy in a casual maroon sweater and black slacks. Shannon in a skull & bones pink ribbon in her hair and a black cocktail dress. I met some of the enthusiastic guests like Candice Ralston, Gina Miller, Rebecca Johnson, Cory and about 20 other beautiful women. I was in heaven. A young lady named Krista tells me that in her bedroom she saw a boy and girl sitting on her bed, they were brother and sister and she gathered information in her mind that they both died in a car accident. Nancy Bradley - Celebrity Psychic picked up on this information, before learning it from Krista.
Nancy got the party started by showing everyone how to use spirit wands, or sometimes they are known as divining rods or witching rods. Shannon took the wands and did a demonstration for everyone. Nancy got things going by handing out 50% percent off for readings and gave away a free reading to one of the Ghost Girls party girls. Nancy had everyone take a test to determine their spiritual nature. She was able to see the results of each test and determine if people were teachers, healers, propellers or truthsayers. Shan and I, were truthsayers, which are basically leaders. I learn that propellers are people that help lift other people to great heights. Nancy explains that each one of us, have all these psychic qualities, but we all have one primary one. Nancy also explains that spirits can resonate towards a person foot and you will feel a cold area around your feet, as the spirit moves up towards your body.
Nancy moves on to discuss different types of orbs. One Ghost Girl party girl ask what a black orb is and Nancy says that it means that it is a person that has died within a 5-day period. Nancy had everyone ask a question and Nancy did a reading for everyone, it brought on tears for some of the Ghost Girls party girls. Shannon then took center stage and explained various ghost hunting equipment, like EMF Readers, temperature gauges, FLIR thermal reader, etc. Shannon demonstrates each piece of equipment for the audience. Robert Reppert explains an invention he created that puts out a beam and when the beam breaks, it can be recorded on how much beam breakage there is. It is also attached to the EMF Reader to determine fluctuations.
Shan then plays back an EVP that she actually picked up on her cellphone and most of the people in the audience thought it said..."hello, Shannon."
After various demonstrations and lectures were given, the fun began as Robert set up the TV monitor and video cameras to record spirit activity on the 2nd floor of this home. The audience witnessed moving orbs and the coup de maitre was when a strange light appeared. Shannon and Robert immediately went upstairs to try and debunk the light source with no avail.
This was an exciting evening for everyone and I talked with one of the Ghost Girl party girls and she told me how she enjoys Nancy's classes and how much it has brought joy into her life, I also learn that she has a voice that gives her directions in her life and will warn her if something bad might happen.
This is my first time ever going to a Ghost Girl party and I have to admit, it was an eye-opening experience.
